Will Adsense-Banned Sites Sell on Flippa?

I have built 10 niche sites since mid-2011 that are now on the first page of Google; 4 of them currently occupy the #1 position for their main keyword.

I never had an Adsense account but my girlfriend did, only it got disabled recently for no reason we can think of except that I color-blended the ads with the sites' content to make them appear like part of the content (I've read it might be a reason for getting banned).

When the account was disabled, only two of my sites had Adsense ads. I had placed ads on the others for only a few days when I noticed the CPC drop from $0.70+ to $0.07-$0.20, which prompted me to remove them.

Now I want to package and sell these 10 sites on Flippa because some of the domains will be expiring in a few months and I feel like I don't want to renew them anymore.

I have never tried selling on Flippa so I don't know if this kind of package will sell, considering I have no proof of income except for one which is on Media.net.

Will it be worth a try? Any sound advice will be appreciated.

Sites will be sold on Flippa based on different factors and of course, one of them is adsense earning. Let me ask you couple of questions:
    1. Is the content just informative about the niche or does it have chance to promote any product in that niche?
    2. What is the age of the sites?
    3. Traffic numbers and methods of traffic generation(GA is preferred on flippa, not the awstats)
    4. PR of the home and other pages

If your answers to these questions look convincing, you can sell the sites for good price.

Here is what you can suggest to the buyers:
They can buy sell ads on these sites if the PR and traffic is good.
They can charge for guest blogging from the bloggers of the same niche.
They can put chitika or other ads on their sites even if the site is adsense banned

    Hope this helps...

      Thanks.

      To answer your questions:
      1. Both, I guess.
      2. One is a little more than 1 year old, four are 9 months, the rest of the domains I bought early this year.
      3. All organic. I only recently placed Analytics on most of the sites so I'm not very sure. But 3 of them had been tested with ads and earned a combined $130 a month from Adsense and Media.net, more or less. One is on the cruise niche and was beginning to earn like $80 a month from Adsense while ranked #2 in Google. Now it's #1.
      4. All are PR0.

I tried Chitika once on a site but it did not make me one cent. I'm trying to expand on Media.net but I still have to get each site approved.

I need some cash but if these sites won't make me at least a grand on Flippa, I might not sell them.

Yes, of course they will sell, you have to let them know about the site being banned in adsense.

Don't forget that adsense isn't the only way of monetizing a website, there are thousands of ways to monetize a website.

You'll just have to do some research on other ways of monetizing the site and explain in the auction, you can monetize this way and that way etc...

You may not get a better price then you would if the site was still able to use adsense to monetize it, but will still be able to sell regardless.

I saw a comment on one of the auctions on Flippa asking the seller if the site was banned on Adsense so I'm anticipating that I would be asked the same question.

I will not lie about it and just like you said just let them know, but that's what I think will discourage any buyer.

I'm exploring other monetization methods but i think adsense is the best.

I also am wondering if the other sites were also "banned" from Adsense even though I removed the ads from them about a week before the Adsense account was disabled.

it may discourage them, but anyone with some business sense can always see the potential in websites, if revenue can be made from them by using other monetizing techniques.

The only way your going to find out if they will sell, is by listing them and being up front and honest about everything.

I don't have enough posts to thank you Seadragon but I appreciate your thoughts.

Buyers on Flippa really like Adsense sites, so it's going to be a tough sell. If you could actually get them earning something, you'd be more likely to sell them with Adsense banned. Color blending doesn't normally get your Adsense acct banned. Everyone color blends their Adsense ads. I've been doing it for years.

There's a recent post by Pat Flynn of SmartPassiveIncome.com that you might want to check out. He was sent an email from Google Adsense which explains why I think that overdoing it can be ground for account termination. Some are "unblending" their ads' colors just to be safe, especially now it's raining account bans everywhere.

my suggestion - be honest - the domains / graphics / branding may have a value, and if you're clear in your communications there are people who will buy.

be reasonable with your pricing and valuation

Is there a way to know if all my sites were banned, including those that I just tried putting ads on for a few days? I only had two sites sporting Adsense ads when the account got disabled.

Also I read in past threads that it's not really banning the sites but the IP addresses, so when the sites are transferred to a different hosting account and different domain owner, and accessed through a different computer, the adsense will be okay. I'm just not sure if the buyers will have this kind of mentality.

For the 10 sites I'm willing to sell for $1500. I might even include the entire rights for the 100-page ebook I wrote for one of the sites, along with the 2800-word sales page. That's how broke I am now.

Just because the adsense account was banned doesn't mean the sites were banned. If you want to know if the sites are still good, borrow someones adsense code from another site and post it on those sites. If the ads display, the sites haven't been banned.

Yeah if you tried to blend the ad into your own content, then that is a sure way to get it banned. But it is not the end of the world. There's many other alternatives to Adsense, just google around. If the websites are ranked #1 for their main keywords, then you can still sell them, because the buyer could be using it to do affiliate marketing, or other kinds of marketing.

Do they have Search engine ranking? If they do then add CPA offers and get some income. Then you should try to sell it.
Otherwise its not that good of a bargain for the other guys.
