Help with Wordpress

INTERNET MARKETING

I have a question, I am working on a blog, but I want to have a static page talking about what the site is, and then have somthign that says "see the blog post below"

how can I choose what blog post to place there, rather than having no static homepage and just showing the most recent post?

In the edit screen for the post check the box that says "sticky" and it will be the first post that shows always.

You would probably need a custom homepage.php. made. I am pretty sure someone here can whip one up quick for you.

A custom home.php would have to be made. Sure someone here can do that real quick.

I think there may be a plugin that can call on a shortcode to display, I use it to display a list of posts on a separate page, for example a blog page where all of the categories are together and you only require one category.

The plugin is called wp list category post or something similar
