Can I use Free articles in Wordpress

I have started a online magazine a will be using some free articles from ezarticles. I was wondering what is the procedure with using duplicate content in wordpress. Is there a way to do it without having the SEO of my site compromised and is there a way to optimize the content in search engines. Also are there plugins that help with this.

Duplicate content is NOT when you have the same content on different sites. Duplicate content is when you have the same content on the same site. If all sites that had copies of the same content were penalized then what would happen to all the news sites that syndicate the same articles?

What you are wanting to do is called article syndication and it is perfectly fine. But trying to build a site using ONLY articles and content taken from other sites will not get you very far.

The best thing to do is make sure you are regularly adding your own unique content to the site so there is at least a mix of original and syndicated content.

SEO for syndicated content is just the same as SEO for any other content. The standard principles apply.

Don't overlook guest posting. Depending on the niche you have chosen there are often plenty of people out there who are looking for extra exposure. It might be to publicize their website, their product, their service, whatever.

Offer these people the chance to write guest posts for you in return for exposure.

If you find great articles and secure permission to use them, go for it. The key is to keep your standards high, and not compromise them for the sake of bulk.

Here's a quick tip to jump start that contributor list...

Go read all the threads on finding syndication partners and switch them around. Look for the writers in your niche that put out the kind of content you want on your site, particularly writers who already syndicate articles, and ask them if you can be on their list of publishers who get notified when they have new content.

In other words, the hunted becomes the hunter...

It isn't duplicate content. It's syndicated content. They're very different things: Article Marketers – Lay the Duplicate Content Myth To Rest Once and For All - Internet Marketing and Publishing Blog

"Compromised" compared with what? If you mean "compromised" compared with having solely unique, original, previously unpublished content, then no: there isn't a way for it to be as helpful to your on-page SEO as that.

In theory, you won't get much SEO benefit from it at all. Syndicated content isn't supposed to provide people with SEO benefits. It's supposed to provide them with content!

If you mean "penalized" when you say "compromised" then no: you don't have to worry about that.

    Not really, no.

The "trick" is to use that for some of your content, not for all of it.

You need some unique content, too. A mixture is fine.

You can benefit from doing that, and your pages can still rank.

How is article syndication different than curation? Also can you get in trouble for this if the news company sent you a cease and desist letter?

Using articles is a waste of time - if it's your REAL intention to create an ezine of VALUE!

Shortcuts will NEVER get you any where.

    What's your brand?

What message are you trying to broadcast.

    Who is your audience.

Why are you passionate about creating this website/business?

    How are you monetizing it?

    Stop.

Rethink wasting your time and explore ways to provide value, gaining credibility and creating something original.

    You have options.

If it's worth doing, than do it RIGHT!

    Mark Pescetti

P.S. I always tell my clients to figure out how they can HELP their audience with their product, service... or brand message. If you have something you believe in that is important to communicate in articles, blogs, videos, etc., then do it. But populating another Wordpress site with duplicate content is the biggest waste of time you will EVER commit.

P.P.S. This isn't about SEO. You need to appeal to human nature; EMOTION - first, foremost and always.

I do not want to put non unique content, but I may find an article from somewhere else that I would like to link to. This may be from a news source or something like that. I do write my own articles but it is good to show some other information that I may not have written. Should I just write an overview of the article without copying anything and then link to it at the bottom of my post?

I would really come up with your own unique content if you are looking to SEO your site.

If you are using say Ezinearticles on your site, it's not going to damage your rankings but its not going to help it much either.

And to requote a warrior from above, duplicate content is just when you have the same content on your site. You can get penalized for that.

Having an article on your site and that same article elsewhere on the web is completely okay. That's not duplicate content and you won't be penalized for it.

You're not too impressed with the sentence "Duplicate content doesn’t cause your site to be penalized" from Google's WebMaster Central Blog, then, Larry? Or all of Matt Cutts' assurances about that on video and in interviews? Perhaps you think they're lying about it? I know some people do genuinely believe that ...

I syndicate a lot of articles for my niche sites if I can find high quality articles. There isn't a way to SEO the content since the terms of using it is that you can't edit the content and you have to include the resource box. The point of syndicated articles isn't SEO though, it is bringing high articles to your audience!

What you are trying to do is Plagiarism copying another article and posting it in your website. Plus copyscape will trace you as you copy some other website's content. If you really want to get an article that you feel appropriate for your site from other sites, then try to get it securely by citing the link where you got those very useful articles. Or contact the site and ask permission to use their content.

Since they are getting the articles from article directories it is not plagiarism. That is what article directories are there for. When you post to a site like Ezine Articles, you are giving everyone permission to republish your article with your resource box.

Any particular reason why? I'd love to know if you have a reason besides "The search engines won't like it." (Since Google doesn't have a problem with syndication.)

    This is just nonsense.

That's what article directories are there for. They're sources of content for syndication to other sites: http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...ml#post5068872

Never? Try telling that to all the Warriors who are making our livings through content syndication, Frank.

What's referred to above is syndicated content, not duplicate content. The difference is explained here (and in many other places, of course): Article Marketers - Lay the Duplicate Content Myth To Rest Once and For All - Internet Marketing and Publishing Blog
