Your site doesn't load (for me at least) so that's a problem.

Nope, still nothing. Your homepage times out too.

Hahaha looked at the first page and then did not have the energy to read much more. So what exactly is the ultimate challenge? It sounds like a pyramide scheme

The problem is that your post is all about YOU. You even call it My Ultimate Challenge. And when I skimmed the post, mainly all I saw were words like "I" and "me."

The reason I skimmed it, and quite possibly the reason why your readers will skim it too, is because it doesn't tell the reader what's in it for us. Make the blog post about your reader, NOT you! What will you do for your reader? How will this benefit them?

A good start would be to rewrite your post so that it takes out the "I"-oriented sentences and replaces them with "you"-oriented text. As you do this, you should be telling readers what they get out of this. And why they should care.

Your website should be not about YOUR journey, but how it will beeft the reader. do check out other same niche blogs and research on how they present content , end of the day it is not about how smart you are and what you know, but how you can benefit your reader , plan you content for a couple of weeks and then start posting about ... should help you get a clearer picture then.

No newbie wants to read a block of text you need to space it out and use titles

      OK.
First of all, great job, thanks for you comments.

Starting with the name. I understand that "My Ultimate Challenge" was not a good choice.
What you thing about "The Newbie's Challenge"?

      Thanks, Bettina

Hi Bettina! First, let me congratulate on what you've done - I think your idea is good. You've asked for some feedback, so here are my thoughts:

1- As a reader, I'd be curious to know about you. Why have you set this challenge? What's your background? What are your struggles and successes? You see, I'd want to find a connection between you and me. The more that I feel that I can relate to you, the more interested I'd be to read about your challenge. I can't find that information in your website so I don't feel like I know you and therefore, why would I care about what you have to say.

2 - Agree that changing the focus of the posts to be about the reader would make it more relevant. You should first talk about yourself to build the connection with your readers and then tell them how your story can help them (i.e. now the focus is on them). Write so that it feels like you're talking to your friend and you both understand what the other is going through.

    3. Maybe some pictures / images on your website will help. It feels a bit dull to me.

    4. I found it hard to navigate between the posts. "My Ultimate Challenge" is actually a category by itself - but if I'd stumbled upon your website by accident, I would not have thought to click on it (I wouldn't have an idea of what it is about from the category title) So changing to "The Newbie's Challenge" should help. Still, having clicked on the category and starting with the last post, I would not have understood what the Ultimate Challenge is all about and would have lost interest.

Perhaps you can explain the whole purpose of this series so that people who stumble onto your website the first time will know what it is - for example using a static About page. Refer people to this page at the start, so new readers would not feel lost.

    4. You'll want to get people to opt-in - suggest that your opt-in form stand out more. Right now, it just blends into the background and not obvious.

    5. Overall, it seems like you have a mix of topics (although most I see are on IM) on your site (apart from the Ultimate Challenge). It'd help if you also explained what your entire site is about. Why the particular emphasis on the Ultimate Challenge?

Overall, a great effort. Do keep it up and all the best.

So massively cleaned up the blog. Delete old post which doesn't fit anymore.

Also rewrite the post about the environment:

The Newbies Challenge – The Environment | The Newbie's Challenge

Will have to rewrite the next part and the about page now.

@rohit: Thanks for your comment. I am not a friend of all these videos. Hope this works without them.

@Claire: No, I don't want people to sign-up first. I will add a newsletter with additional information.

Once again thanks for your help. I posted this in a couple a forums, but you are the best.

Please continue to post. Greetings Bettina

ok perhaps a newsletter will work to get members but you need to get it up there otherwise your work is pointless. Thats a good way to handle any challenge. But I think people are trying to get you to encourage everyone to follow what you are doing. Duplicate it. People love that kind of stuff, you're the helper for them (teaching them to make money)

Also re video's just embed video code on your blog from youtube.com (look down under the video for the embed code) if you want you you can ask the video owner if they mind if you do it. But the embed is there for people to do that. Typically blogs with videos get higher ranks in google its to your advantage to try to do that (add video) earn more just google "how to embed youtube video on my blog".

You could also learn how to create a video tutorial by googling it. (get outside your comfort zone). I recommend that.
