Help w gmail attachments

Hi
Does anyone know why I suddenly cannot open word doc attachments or PDF attached to gmail?? It won't allow me to open save as etc etc it's weird

    Have you recently configured your security settings? Usually doing that will make opening gmail attachments more difficult. Sometimes there may even be glitches in the gmail server but I doubt it because I just went to my gmail and managed to open an attachment without any problems. Hope this helps.

    Do you have Word, or Adobe Acrobat Reader installed on the computer? Or at least Open Office?

    There is so little information given that it's hard to know where to start, and there are a lot of possibilities.

    In my newbie days, I had to reinstall the operating system, and couldn't open pdfs after that. It turned out I had to download Adobe Reader again.

      I have all that stuff this just started happening out of the blue?? If it's a settings problem let me know what I need to do in gmail to correct it cuz I been using gmail for years and never had ths happen

    I have my Google Drive (formerly Docs) account attached to my Gmail and I open everything that way and then download it. Have you tried doing that?

    Try a different browser.

    You say you can't 'open save'. What is happening exactly? Are the 'open' 'download' links missing? Or you click them and nothing happens?

      No links r there I can view in google docs only hitting save or save as does nothing It's just some long googlemail link with no .doc extension or anything so it's not saved or opened
      I don't kno why this started happening as I never had this issue prior

    No I haven't I'm trying to get it to work in my browser and windows 7 as it has for years previously but I will try it on my ie windows xp comp
    I'm thinking it's the settings but I really didn't change them recently unless something changed with gmail

      Gmail did change a few things last Thurs or Fri, but I thought it was mostly cosmetic and having to do with the contacts features.

      I'm on a Win7 64 bit Ultimate system and I use Chrome, FF, and IE, all with Gmail, and I've had no problems over the weekend. I also have a Vista laptop and an XP desktop, neither of which are having trouble.

      Are you having trouble with ALL attachments, or just one in particular? Was it saved with the proper extension (.doc or .docx)?

        It is happening with .doc,PDF and similar I don't think it's happening with zip files for some reason
        All attachment links are switched to a long gmail or something. Weird not the .doc extension in fact no extensions see my post above so they can't be saved or opened Its not the problem of the person sending them cuz they are sent as word doc for example but gmail is changing something I don't get it
        I went to their troubleshooting/support but no reply yet in fact no acknowledgment that they even got my problem but I did see my problem listed
        So apparently I'm not the only one
