Newbie Squeeze page critique

Warriors,

As a brand new face in the crowd I have spent the last two weeks devouring IM information. I'm from a military, BSBM and self employed offline background. (No html, css, etc experience) Regardless, today I secured domain, hosted, designed and automated a squeeze page. It's not flashy, trendy or popping but I could use some input. Please visit and let me have your worst (and best) critiques. Try to assume its a universal niche and using an affiliate based business model. (I will be targeting many niches as I get things rolling)

Take your title and move it down right above your sign up form, add bullet points (tell whats in it for them) enough benefits promise they will opt in. But you must change that header to above the sign up form and make it RED

    Hi DSW,
I don't really see a title...i would suggest shifting the opt-in form a little lower so that you don't break up your pitch. The picture for the guide could be larger. Also the banner picture doesn't look very attractive, especially the female. Think there should be better banner pictures around? The bottom paragraph not very persuasive...perhaps take a look at some other squeeze pages to see how they are done, then tweet it a little to suit your own. Hope this helps

I'm learning to build squeeze page as well and my friend told me to make a bullet point about what subscriber will get if they subscribe to our list, that will increase the conversion of your squeeze page and also you may use a paid autoresponder service such as Aweber, GetResponse, Imnica or anything else instead of using listwire as your autoresponder. As far as I know, listwire has an ad when the subscribers are trying to click the link from the email so I think it would be better for you to use paid autoresponder to get higher quality. Good luck.

I'd look at changing up your layout.

Grab yourself a copy of Optimize Press and use either template 04 or 10.

Option form on the right hand side of your page, with pre headline, headline and sub headline above your text.

Just look at the style of squeeze pages Craig uses. Use his style as inspiration.

Right now your header image does nothing but turn me away from looking any further on your squeeze, it needs to capture attention and give an idea of what to expect moving forward.

      Updates made -
I changed the image for a better fit
      Re configured the layout
      & Switched to Aweber.

      Any other pointers?

    Hi,

    It's really busy.

The easiest text to read is black text on a white background.

    Put everything above the fold.

What is the free gift you are giving? A PDF file? A Video?

    Make your headline more specific.

Copy needs to be more personal and specific.

    Needs a unique "WOW" factor.

Thanks to all for the help! I'm amazed by the responses! Slowly - I'm getting there. My biggest obstacle is building the form within the limitations of the aweber form builder. (& Lack of experience)
Wes...your page looks awesome! Not sure how to duplicate that in the aweber form builder though. Is there a better form builder out there? (preferably free)

The other suggestions above are good.

Is that you in the pic at the top of the page? If so, I would make it more prominent on the page. You could inset it into the opt-in form to see how that converts. As someone already mentioned, make sure your visitor is 100% sure of what they are receiving, this is very important.

Again, if that's you in the pic, you should SERIOUSLY consider creating a 7 day muscle building/fat burning free video/PDF training series to give away as your gift. People respond to REAL life people offering REAL life results. You can just have one of your friends record you working out for 7 (10 - 15) minute sessions in the gym... BOOM!!, you have a very valuable free gift for your subs and you will INSTANTLY develop a relationship right from the start.

    Other than that...

Get rid of the top part of your page, it's just wasting space. Put the form above the fold, and below if there's more content below the fold. Have strong headline telling your targeted visitor EXACTLY what they want to hear. I don't think your headline is a strong one. You should have benefit driven bullet points, but all this has been mentioned above.

Good luck. Seriously consider the 7 day bootcamp. Somehow I doubt that's you though

If you want to improve the visitor-to-subscriber opt-in
rate for your squeeze page, you'll need to make DRASTIC
      changes to your latest version.

      1. Header

The first thing that a visitor should see when they get to
a squeeze page is a headline that grabs their attention.

Instead, the first thing that draws the eye is the header
with a fountain pen on the left (WTFWYT?) and the ripped
      guy on the right.

I'd remove the useless header for a start as it only takes
away attention from your headline and pushes the rest
of your content further down the page.

Your current page is too graphically intense and detracts
from the main elements of a successful squeeze page: a
compelling headline, some bullets and a clear call-to-action.

      2. Bullets

Your bullet points are not particularly compelling. Your
bullets should motivate people to really, really want to
sign-up for the juicy information on the other side.

The contrast between the red bullet text and the burnt
orange background doesn't work well and makes your
      bullets hard to read.

I'd recommend that you go back to basics with black bullet
text on a white background. This will make your bullets
      easier to read.

      3. Opt-In Form

With your current page layout, visitors need to scroll to
      even see your opt-in form.

Instead, remove the header at the top and ensure that
your opt-in form appears in the first screen without the
      need for visitors to scroll.

You'll likely see an increase in opt-in rates if you only
ask for the visitors e-mail address instead of their name
      too.

Instead of having 'Sign up!' as the text for the button,
test something that sounds less onerous and more
      benefit laden.

Also, remove the E-mail marketing by AWeber text and
link - you want visitors focusing on your offer, not theirs.

I hope these tips are useful for you.

      Dedicated to mutual success,

      Shaun

Yeah, something simpler like what Wes put together is going to be a lot better than what you've got now.
A lot of times with squeeze pages less is more.

That's a nice squeeze page. BTW the hyper-link in your signature is not working.

One thing that I realized is that a lot of times the simpler squeeze pages convert best and right now too much is going on with your page. There should be a headline that catches the visitors attention as soon as they get on the page.

I'd find a way to better word those bullet points and completely get rid of that page template and go for one that's white or light grey and doesn't have any unnecessary designs (like that pen at the top).

Another thing is that you want your opt-in form to be above the fold (visible without having to scroll down) to see it and right now I have to scroll all the way to the bottom if I wanted to sign up. Remember you want your visitors feel comfortable and make it as easy as possible for them to opt-in.

Here's one of my squeeze pages that is very simple (no bullet points or video) but right now is converting at around 41% - 43% andreyadison(dot)com/7Day (replace dot)

I would make the page smaller. Make your headline better and more visible (on a white background). On one side of the opt-in form, include your free ebook that you're offering. On the other side of the opt-in form, include that picture of yourself at the top of your webpage. The bullet points are good, and i would also make them more visible also. But please change the background to white.

I can send you the actual page if you want..

That would be great! I've been fooling around with the aweber forms for hours trying to get it right. I just can't seem to get the bullets on the left of the opt in and the opt in above th e fold. I appreciate your help.

Nevermind just figured it out....didnt occur to me I had to choose the two column layout to achieve the desired effect.

In my page, the aweber code is only the blue box, the rest of it is just regular HTML..So start over in aweber to where you have the basic form with just the name and email and submit button, then you will paste that code into my HTML page and upload it to your server..

    Hi,

    I think you should
    - increase your font to attract attention
    - the squeeze page looks small
    - how the benefits can solve people's problem
    - and what will people be signing up for? free ebook on your secrets? free report or what?
    - Even if it is free, you must try to make it sound like it is a 'must have' stuff, otherwise will regret..
    - I see that you have create the 'urgency' to sign up, you stated it is free limited time offer. Try to emphasis this.

    I hope it helps.

    I personally think you should:

    - Create a stand out header, and add quotes to it - This creates a more credible heading.
    - Keep your typing consistent, there's too much bold sticking out, italics etc. It just becomes a bit of an eyesore.
    - Add a video - SERIOUSLY, squeeze pages with videos convert SO much better, as long as the video is of good quality, of course. Maybe you could do a video of yourself giving visitors a little information on what you have to offer, but not so much that they know everything and just leave.
    - Add something above the optin box such as "Sign up now for instant access!" Or something along those lines.
    - What a lot of squeeze pages have are little images at the bottom of a few of the free things they will be receiving. So for example if you were giving away 10 gifts, you could put an image of say, gift 2, 6 and 8. People will then be like.. "what else?" and is a great way to get people interested!

    Hope this helps!

Headline needs to be bigger, way too much red, perhaps experiment with putting a video in there?

I would also move everything up, there is no header that I can see, just the "bar" that moves everything down to far.

    Good work though!

Hey there... I like that the site isn't "busy" however, I don't see a "lead capture box" anywhere. aweber is good to use and you can design a quick lead capture box in a few minutes and upload it to your site. Let me know if you have any questions about this.
    good luck
