I'm using single opt-in.

After the squeeze page, should I redirect them to the OTO or the free product.

Or should I just redirect them to the free product, then send a follow up on the OtO.

So confusing

Once they opt in the email should send them to your oto Then they can buy and pay or say no thanks and get their freebie

    Opt-in > OTO > Download

There's no reason you can't send them to a download page with another "featured" offer if they pass on the OTO.

Make it a different product offered at a lower price than the OTO.

Yeah, but what if the OTO is a clickbank offer. How do you make it so they can go download the free product if they dont want the OTO?

"No thanks, take me to my free download". Make that a link for the download below the purchase button. Don't over compllicate things. :-)

Sending them straight to the download means they get nothing when they open up your first email. I would rather the very first email opened by a new subscriber to be one where they actually get something of value, it sets the tone early on. If you were using double opt-in they would have to go back to get their free gift anyway, so may as well send them to a thank you page where they can get a OTO.

If it's a clickbank product, better be a good one. Your first impression should always be a positive one.

By the way, this can depend upon the niche you're in. If you send Internet marketers to a clickbank sales page, you most likely will give a bad impression. This is only my opinion though.

You could always do both. After they sign up, at the top of the page offer the link for the download of your freebie, then allow them to scroll down to view your OTO.

      I guess so

Your leaving money on the table not doing it-- especially if your paying for traffic.

      test it yourself

send 500 people to a squeeze page using a good low priced OTO of $5 - $11 and an upsell of say $17 - $27

then see how much you make

you will be pleasantly surprised at the results :-)

The thing is, they do still get the free offer. It would be different if you offered something for free, then when they opt in hitting them with charges.

You are merely saying - whilst I have your attention, here is another offer I think you may like. If you don't want the offer, then here is your freebie link

When you have people subscribing to your newsletter, you always want to follow up with them with a few emails. You can always add new offers to your sequence but it is very true that the fortune is in the follow up.

Plus, you also want to add some upsells to what ever you are selling.

Some people, it may take them 5-15 times to see a message or link before they decided if it is for them or not. The key for you is to make sure that you are consistently adding new subscribers to your list every single day without stopping.
