we all start with nothing and no subscribers

you just have to keep pushing, learning, taking action until you see results

having your own list is great, but its not just having a list which will make you money its having a responsive list that like to read your emails and also they have to trust what you say

the trust part does not happen overnight im afraid and can take a while to build

your aweber bills are all part of "your business costs" and its a tool which is vital for your success online

we all have different size lists and they are all different and they all make different amounts of money

Sounds like having a business of mass emailing is more profitable than blogging. LOL

It does take a while to build a list. Go to the Buy Sell Swap Forum & get someone who already has a big list to email your list link. Some kind of list promotion on your part. That is one way to build a list fast.

I have a list for every website that I own. One of my biggest money makers gets around $400-$500 per email submission!

Put your list opt in in the upper right corner of your blog, this is the sweet spot on your site. Build your links to get organic searches, this is another way to market your blog AND your list too.

Don't give up...it took me 4 months to build that one list that makes so much money!

Motivate yourself and do not rely on others to motivate you. Honestly say this out loud and see how it sounds... Pitiful and pathetic comes to mind right? Stop whining and pay the measly $19 a month for Aweber. Who cares how much someone else is making. You cannot spend their money. How much your making is what matters. Take more action towards building your list and stop complaining...

You are paying too much to Aweber as 500 and under is only $19. You have to hang in there. Your list can be good. My most recent list I started is about 275 3 weeks in. I have so far done. $175 with them and that is after all my expenses. Not huge but is works. I also bought a list and broke even on the price of the list. Hoping to get more out of that one.

My advice is you need to change the way you are thinking about it.. Obviously we build a list to earn a good income from it but that shouldn't be the motivation because it is putting the cart before the horse.

You should be asking, how you can build your list..
      1. Offer a free but valuable giveaway for your niche
      2. Create a compelling squeeze page for that freebie with your optin on it
      3. Promote that squeeze page, use social media, advertising, forums, press releases, SEO, solo ads, ad swaps.
Send regular mailings to your growing list but DONT spam them with multiple offers. Give them good info and when you do slip in the odd offer every now and again your list will be much more responsive and less likely to unsubscribe.

The money is in the List.

I started out just asking around if people were interested in making money online.
Had a list of folks and NO AWEBER, I used Gmail.

My thing was just to get information on IM and AM out to folks, because I know if I can get people to make money online down the road on more serious ventures, we could partner.

After buying a few WSO,s and joining some other folks lists I noticed something.
Not only was I getting the WSO of the day from WarriorForum, but I was also getting the WSO of the day from those lists as well.

I figured these guys are not sending out any e-courses or anything so they must be making money in some way. I did research on the net on how to make money from WSO's. I found a video explaining that you just needed to join Warriorplus.com, get the authors approvals and once approved the affiliate links.

I joined warriorplus.com and this time when I mentioned the WSO's I thought were good, I dropped my affiliate links in. I didn't expect anything great to happen as there were only 5 people on my list at the time, and some offers wouldn't pay until the 2nd or 3rd sale.

It was then that something amazing happened. That list of 5 people started buying stuff and payments started hitting my paypal. Sixty bucks came in the first 30 days. I haven't calculated the 2nd month, but now I have 10 people on my list. And the interesting thing is I really don't start doing my IM business until some time this week.

It was then I realized the value of a list.
Based on Rinse & Repeat when I get things rolling it should be something like this:

    5 subscribers = 60
    10 = 120
    100 = 1200
    etc etc etc

Here is what I learned so far.
Most of the people on my list were people from social sites who I knew as associates for at least a couple of months.

So, it's a good idea to build some type of relationship with people. This could be something so simple, as hanging out with them on Blogtalkradio, a Chat Site, or writing articles, blogs, and forums.

When I mentioned any WSO it wasn't a canned response, it was me writing about a program, or service I believed in. So use your own words when telling people about products and it's best if it's something you believe in.

    Hope this helps,

I am in the same boat as you. It seems like the subscribers arent coming so what I do is just keep updating my information and blog. I am hoping that eventually people will find my information useful and want additional free information. I worry that I don't have enough that I am giving away as in incentive to get people to sign up but I think it may just be the building trust factor. Just keep going forward owning your own business isn't an easy task or everyone would do it.

The money in the list depends on the amount of people you have on your list and the relationship you have. As a general rule every member of your list is at least worth $1 dollar per month. So you can pontentially make $1,000 per 1,000 subscribers and $10,000 per 10,000 subscribers. In some cases you can make much more if your average subscriber value is higher than $1. Hope that clarifies your question.

YES ! This is the rule of thumb. But If you cannot get more subscriber in your list, then it's better that you should to go for any free mail provider.

No offence, but whats the point to pay for services like aweber, if you can install a fully customizable mailing script on your own domain? And do the same for $0/month?

The point is email deliverability which is HUGE.

As for how much money you can make with your list...it all depends on your relationship with the your list.

Do they see you as their trusted adviser?

How good are you at selling?

My advice learn email copy writing from people like Matt Furey, Andre Chaperon, Terry Dean...people who have been doing this stuff for year.

You'd be amazed how much you can make with a small list if you do thing right

I was thinking about this, but is there really such a big difference between sending emails from aweber and a clean(nowhere banned) server?

A question. I have a website which makes a couple hundred dollars per month off paid subscribers. I tested free joins for a while and from the same traffic I got 50-100 free joins per day, with names, emails, IPs. What do you think is better long term? 1500-3000 free email members per month or $500 per month?

I have been offered 1,000 subscribers with a 14 email auto-responder series and associated affiliate offers. The cost is $1,500. Does this sound reasonable? Since I can't see the affiliate offers I am not sure, but the sellers are reputable, so using standard metrics I should be able to break even after a month or two.

Make sure that the opt-in form is obvious on your blog, top right sidebar, underneath every post, and perhaps even a footer ad?

Then make sure you send as much traffic as possible. For example you could have added a signature link in your profile here.

How often do you post valuable comments on the other blogs in your niche? Can you start writing guest blog posts for more established blogs, and are you able to get tweets or likes for your content with your social media strategy?

Also think about the quality of what you're offering, would you actually be interested enough to sign up if you visited the site and didn't own it?

    C'mon dude, seriously?

After 2 months you only have one subscriber? It's not motivation in the area of list building that should be your priority. You need to sit down and take a good hard look at what you are doing to generate traffic. You really are putting the cart before the horse here.

Are you forum posting, blog commenting, guest posting and using any of the other hundred ways of driving free traffic to your website or landing page?

You already know that an email list is valuable. You wouldn't have even bothered to start building one if you hadn't read it many times before. Spend 10% of your time learning what you have to about list building and spend the other 80% of your time learning and IMPLEMENTING traffic generating strategies. Spend the other 105 of your time getting real.

This is no cakewalk, no matter what the minority tells you. I don't know exactly the failure rate statistic, but it's pretty damn high. There's a good bloody reason for that. Get your ass in gear and stop fantasizing about what you can possibly earn, and get to work.

    Best of luck.

Remember, experience is what will benefit you most when it comes to list building. Stop getting ahead of yourself and focus solely on building it by generating traffic.
