Internet marketing is not the future trend

Hi Warriors,

Internet marketing is not the future trend, because the trend is now, we should take advantage of it now, fully utilize this system and build up our business.

I have a lot of friends still thinking the internet business is the future trend, and seldom give a serious consideration for this.

What is the future plan... is it mobile marketing?... I not sure, but I just want to focus on internet marketing right now and keep on going until the next trend coming.

What do you think? Are you fully focused on this trend right now?

The future is making cool videos that make people want to pull out there credit cards. People like Frank Kern, Jonathan Budd, David Wood and more are making internet marketing appear to be cool to do. They are starting to bring more of the mainstream into internet marketing. It doesn't matter where you market if you can influence a audience you will be able to make money. Yes, mobile marketing will be picking up but marketing will still be focused around traffic and conversions. Those two pieces of the equation will always equal sales. Its been the same way since selling began. Get people to your offer and convert them into a transaction. Learn how to entertain, build trust and provide value once you get the person to your offer and you will go far.

Mobile is a slow progression. These smartphones that are out now are getting bigger and bigger. People are feeling more comfortable making transactions on their phones. We have a younger generation of people who will eventually do a great deal of their business right from the little super computer that they carry in their back pockets. How to market effectively in this medium is what is being tested and discovered as we speak. But again it is a slow progression

      Hey Steve,

Interesting thread here! Internet marketing is definitely the trend right now, but then that is visible to the trained eye. For most people outside the IM arena, internet marketing still seems to be a distant thing that some day will gain prominence.

Mobile marketing is most definitely the future.

Global e-commerce is growing, and many rapidly developing nations are seeing their internet penetration rates grow. Unlike the U.S., etc., much of their Internet usage is done via mobile phone, not laptops and PCs. Furthermore, as tablet computers are becoming more commonplace in households around the world, mobile marketing is becoming a major focus area of global corporations.

Video marketing is likely the next trend, as we are already seeing people attain great success through it.

As for Internet marketing, it is the past, present, and future... though its future role will likely evolve.

I hate to break it to you, but you are utterly, totally, and completely wrong on this. Either you have a fundamental lack of understanding as to what IM is or you're just confused, your statement makes no sense.

First, and obviously: how can you say "IM is not the future trend"?

People have been making money online since there was an online!

Whether that's accessing the world wide web through a desktop, a laptop, or a smart phone ("mobile marketing") Internet Marketing WILL ALWAYS EXIST AND BE THE CURRENT AND FUTURE TREND.

As long as people access the internet (no matter HOW they do that), there will be people selling products and services (yes, via "marketing" or "advertising" -- both terms are interchangeable).

    So:

Don't confuse "mobile marketing" and "internet marketing". Mobile marketing is a sub-group of Internet Marketing. "Video marketing" is a sub-group of IM.

IM is no fad or trend that's loosing it's popularity. It's here to stay and will evolve with technology.

But the fundamental principle will always be the same regardless of how and what people do/use to access the internet: marketers will always find a way to get their visitors to "take action".

You couldn't be more correct! When the Internet goes away (which is never) then IM will be dead. I think the more creative people will become more successful in IM they will be.

IM is a bubble that will burst soon. Take advantage now and find a need outside the trend and leverage the things that you know and people that you meet to help you in the future.

We are lucky presently but nothing as good as this will last forever so I would say keep your eyes on the chessboard and think a few moves ahead if you want to win the game.

Offline??? This was called Web design in the days of old and mobile?? maybe ... the shrewd marketer will be able to tell with their gut feelings where is is going ... (Just my opinion but let's see ehh?)

    cheers

Yes, and in addition, a lot of internet marketing is transferable to mobile anyway.

I mean, OK, you need a mobile optimized version of your website now, and you might want to do some SMS marketing.

The old principles of IM still apply, just like the old principles of direct mail still largely apply with internet marketing.

Mobile marketing is growing fast but many of us know it's a sub-group of internet marketing. So if you can focus on internet marketing then whatever may come out in the future as the next best thing whether it is mobile marketing or whatever, it would be easy to adjust for as long as we understand the basics that make internet marketing work.

Agree with Steve Lim. I don't really care about the correct timing of starting up internet marketing. Internet marketing do not need timing simply because they work 24/7!

And, mobile marketing is definitely going to soar in the next few years. It's definitely a good business that everyone can venture into.

Nothing is permanent in this world. If one thing exists and its on the top then its sure that in future its not going to be the same. You can't remain young for whole of your life as time passes you will also pass away.

I think the IM trend will stick on for quite some time. The only question is to what extent will it reach or through what media will it be available to.

It is best to optimize your internet marketing skills as much as possible now and then make a move towards mobile marketing. I believe smartphones will be more accessible in the future with the development of technology. Perhaps good enough that people can receive updates wherever they are through their phones. Let's face it, mobile gadgets are more accessible that computers and with the boom of WiFi technology at hand I guess mobile is really a good way to focus our attention. Someday, radio technology might even get so good that WiFi zones might not be needed and anyone with a mobile phone can access the internet anytime. :-D

    Why not do both!
I run a successful offline mobile marketing business. I have several staff working for me on the selling side and on the building side. I don't delve much into it but I am sowing the seeds for when mobile really takes off this year.

I also run several successful internet marketing ventures. I have over 100 sites which bring me a passive income. I have a list of over 1000 buyers and I am now running a coaching course too!

My advice is spread your eggs into many baskets. Keep the income flowing and don't limit yourself.

Mobile marketing will take over internet marketing? How? Don't smart phones use the internet? I think most people don't really know what mobile marketing is....

You have mobile websites, sms marketing, apps, mobile ppc... I don't get why people would claim its going to be bigger than internet marketing. Does anyone else realize how that is not possible?

I know what you are saying. Who knows what the future trend for marketing might be, but right now, if your offline (online is obvious,) business is not submerged in internet marketing, then you risk being left behind (if that is not already happening.)

    Let me make a parallel.

In the 1960s, Elvis became the new trend for music.

If everyone else was not playing the type of music that would allow them to have massive frontal hair waves and don a white suit, then their music would feel outdated and old.

The future trend of music was no longer to fill up quiet space with twang, but to start infusing (and infusing and infusing AND INFUSING) it with Sex. Today this trend has not missed a beat!

Those who preach mobile marketing - I disagree. First of all, mobiles and tablets will never be as ergonomically comfortable and quick to use as a good old keyboard and a large screen. Yes, mobiles are another medium and a fast growing one, but PC's aren't going anywhere.

However it will change and evolve. We are seeing this already with the introduction of social media and mobile. Who knows what the future holds, but I do know we can change and evolve to meet its demands!

"Internet marketing" won't be around forever. It too will die off just as the envelope stuffing schemes of the 90s did. This is indeed a wave some of you are riding and not a long term career. Save your money. Historically speaking, when things begin to die online it happens without much warning. Over the past decade I've seen quite a few people go from living comfortable lives and big egos to losing all of it because their familiar money streams unexpectedly dried up.

Nothing is forever online. You need a Plan B and the wheels for that Plan B should always be in motion to some degree so that you aren't starting from scratch one day when you really need it.

As for mobile, it's producing a lot of uncertainty in ebiz. Mobile traffic just does not convert at the same rate as desktop traffic. As web developers have seen mobile traffic go from 0.1% to perhaps 10% in some cases, it really makes people wonder what has to change to monetize this traffic.

I do agree with this though. You should not put all your eggs in one basket. You should always have a few different ways to make $ whether online or offline.

As far as I see it, it will be one-screen that people will use going forward and the lines between a desktop , a laptop, a smartphone and a TV all will converge as we move towards the convergence era.

People will be accessing everything from one portable hand-held device and there will be a bias towards hyper-local, mobile and social.
