Help with HTML software

INTERNET MARKETING

I'm looking for software that's very user friendly for a newbie when it comes to editing web pages. I've gotten the suggestion to use Front Page, but that's not available anymore. So far other programs I'm finding are very technical.

Is there something out there that will help me to edit web pages without needing a technical background in web design?

Any suggestions are appreciated!

Personal choice: Dreamweaver CS6 from Adobe ( or CS4/CS5 )

You can use Dreamweaver, I found it easy to use.

If you can understand what you are coding, I would recommend using Sublime 2 or PhpDesigner 8, otherwise stick with Dreamweaver

  Beware that using WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) HTML generators is going to result in websites that look like you are browsing the 1995 version of sites at archive.org. This is a big problem in a world where brand image plays a key role in success.
  
  You've pretty much got two choices; either pay a designer or learn how to code yourself...

  While Dreamweaver can technically be used as a WYSIWYG editor (again, not a good idea), it's actually for corporations that want to keep their coders from butting heads over how they format their code. There's supposed to be a standardized way of doing it ("clean code"), but many coders have their own way. Dreamweaver helps keep coders out of the code and has them using a control panel instead.

Personally I use Notepad++ but it requires knowing html, css, xml, etc.

Frontpage died about 3 years ago, and was replaced by Expression Web. I have a few things I do with it, and it has some very strong points. In the webhostingtalk forum I've read 3 people typing that they've switched from Dreamweaver to EW.

EW was just about $100 last time I saw a price, much cheaper than DW. EW has an emphasis on valid code which is a complete turn around for Microsoft, and a nice direction to go in. Most of the time that part of it works better than the online validators. When I am having a problem with a page checking with EW is one of my early steps.

It's at Amazon, and you can even get a download copy from MS if you live int the States. (That was the cheap one.)

I like it, and just wanted to mention that. It does do some things that I don't like too, which is why I mostly use NP++.

For 99% of all sites, no HTML editors are required anymore. Welcome to the future.

Two or 3 things are all you really need.
Hosting + Wordpress + a nice slick theme.

If you want to go first class, pay some guy on Fiverr to set it up for you.

Hey,

Personally, the jury's out on the whole WP-and-theme-instead-of-an-HTML-site thing.

We tried that recently and it was slow, buggy and inflexible. Of course, that could just have been the themes and/or plugins we chose.

Anyway, we went back to good old HTML with PHP for bells and whistles and lightning speed with 100% flexibility is the result.

...and I also meant to add a vote for Dreamweaver which must be the best HTML editor (IMHO) but is not cheap.

I think Dreamweaver is an outdated software, unless it's used as a text editor to code CSS and HTML.

learning HTML and a bit of CSS is so much simpler than learning how to use all Dreamweaver buttons, menus, panels, palettes and features.

i dont know what u are editing, but if you are editing older sites for clients i suggest you get xsite pro, convince them to upgrade their site, u should be up and running with x site pro in a week, just import some nice graphics and u can actually make a nice site in x site pro in no time. And YES they can rank in Google, people say only wordpress will rank, not true
