First Ebook.. Advice Needed Please..

I want to create a ebook to do with fitness (I know there's no shortage!) and wanted some advice. After years of reading and trying different supplements, diets and workouts, I have began a diet and training method that has worked like nothing I have tried before. Put short, I have gained some muscle and strength and lost some hard to lose fat in a short time.

I would love to make an ebook containing the methods I am using, as I genuinely believe it will be helpful and get positive feedback.

What is the best method to market it? I was thinking of setting up a simple sales page, explaining who it's for, the benefits and outlining the methods. At the end of this sales page, just have a PayPal buy button.....

Or is a blog with a page dedicated to selling the ebook a better setup? The only problem with the blog I feel, would be I would be giving most of the information out on the pages talking about the diet and workout. The blog option would however allow me to collect emails easier for any future ebook releases. I also hear people talk of selling ebooks on clickbank?

Also, although I am in the UK, is it better to go for the US market? ie. host in US, and talk in dollars and pounds?

Any advice or links to advice is appreciated.

      Sounds general.

      Definitely a sub-niche

Sell it like anything else. It's information, so you will want to demonstrate your expertise on the subject. The best way to do this is with an opt-in email list.

Just to clarify: setting up a sales page with a PayPal button is NOT a marketing method. It's basically opening your storefront for business. Once your store (sales page) is open for business, you still have to go out and market it.

As marketing expert Dan Kennedy says, the worst number in business is ONE. That is, don't rely on just one marketing method to get traffic and sales. One source can dry up overnight and bankrupt you. You need MULTIPLE ways of getting traffic and sales.

    1. Send out a regular e-mail newsletter or autoresponder to give your list good info and build a relationship with them.

    2. Write articles for other blogs.

    3. Host teleseminars and webinars.

    4. Be a guest for other people's teleseminars and webinars.

    5. Run solo ads in other appropriate e-mail newsletters and websites.

This is just for starters. There are a LOT of ways to get traffic and sales. Pick just 2 or 3 to start with (usually whatever's easiest for you do to) and then build from there. Your traffic stats will tell you what's most effective and your sales will tell you what people want.

    Hope that helps!

My advice (which contradicts a lot of advice here) is not to go too laser targeted with the niche. The broader the market, the more potential sales, the cheaper you can potentially market it for. What is your budget like?

    ascensionmedia,

You may want to write a shorter version of your main e-book. Use that shorter version on your opt-in page (to collect subscribers). Then you can sell the larger version. Almost all of our clients, who order e-books and reports, do this strategy.

Selling it on ClickBank isn't a bad idea. You will never know what you're loosing or gaining until you try.

You could always create a squeeze page, & give your e-book for free. That's what I'm doing, so I could build relationship with my customers, & promote products along the way. Sure you could sell it if you want to.
