Do you read Internet Marketing books?

Do you take time to read Internet Marketing books? (The physical ones NOT ebooks) I sure do read them as I found many information available in it which are not available online, so it's quite helpful for me.

  • Yeah I do. I often try to analyze how they say the message rather than what they are actually saying. Most often than not, a lot of IM books have some sort of copy that sells you into their links that are plastered all over the book.

The thing here is some of the hardcover books may not available in digital forms, so you have to read them to get the knowledge.

the thing i was looking at is that a hardbound book on the stuff we do, most likely would be dated and obsolete by the time it goes to print. the authors website probably has more up to date info than their books.

              I second Cashvertising.

Most marketing is psychology anyway. Study the great of advertising (Ogilvy etc.) and apply it online.

Once you really start reading some of the old stuff, you realize the "new" stuff isn't new at all.

Sometimes, especially when dealing with specific tactics. Somewhere back in my bookshelves I have a book that recommends putting blocks of keywords in the same color as the background into your web pages to increase SEO ranking.

On the other hand, other than a more flowery prose style, many books on marketing and human behavior from a century ago could have been written today.

For example, if you substitute "opt-in form" for "response coupon", the two-step list building method is the same as it was in the Old West.

excellent points John. I don't know why but that's right where I was at thinking about computer stuff, but I guess we could just say that little really changes lolol.

I will say this much though, I did affiliate marketing back in the 90s and stayed away from it for awhile and I'm shocked to see how things like SEO have grown.

It's not an IM book specifically but Felix Dennis (he owns Maxim magazine) 'How To Get Rich' is easily the best book on entrepreneurship I've ever read.

    A must-read.

IMO, the ones I've read suck terribly. Full of vague conjecture and pointless banter. There's plenty of great information in marketing textbooks...it's just up to the reader to transfer that knowledge to the online sector.

Cashvertising is definitely a great read. "Pitch Anything" by Oren Klaff is better though.

I also can't recommend "The irresistible offer", "POP!" and "Influence" as required reading.

Yes I read them pretty often. A recent book that I read about Internet Marketing is "The Dip" by Seth Godin.

I found it through an online review and went to the library to borrow it. It covers everything an Internet Marketer should know for a successful website, an amazing informative text.

I recommend that you go read it for yourself!

Yes, I'm reading internet marketing books from time to time. Not that I'm a regular reader - to be honest, it's not always the best reading in the world, but it's useful, insightful and I like to educate myself.
