Is WF only for marketers in IM/MMO niche, if not why 99% of WSOs/offers assume so?

Hello fellow warriors,

I hope this thread is in right category...not offtopic, but not exactly "money making discussion" either...trying my best to self moderate...)

Ok, my purpose is not to complain about the following topic (that would be poor attitude), but it is just something that I would LOVE to get answered to since it has been bothering me from the very first day that I joined to this forum...

Can somebody, ANYBODY, pretty please (with fresh strawberry + sugar on top) explain me, why 99% of offers on this forum never state if the product/program/training/whatever "works" outside of internet marketing/offline/mobile marketing market. Yet, almost every time someone always (has) to ask that seperately? What I am missing here, in this forum...yes I know WF is forum for internet marketers, but is it only for internet marketers who are marketing internet marketing products for other internet marketers (who are marketing internet marketing products to their clients, often internet marketers)? There are lots of folks on WF who have products/services outiside of IM/MMO niche...granded, vast majority of warriors are in IM niche, but why they so often assume that everyone is in the that niche too?

Just trying to get my head straight on this one..should I assume that something "works" on other niches as well, if not stated otherwise, or the opposite...or do I best save my time if I just ask everytime when I am interested about the offer...

Maybe I am asking something completely stupid and the answer have been staring at me all the time, but sometimes you can not see something if it is too close...

Is it that stating "and yes, this works in other niches too.." hurts the copy and conversions, is it too much of an efford to too that, are the number of warriors outside of IM niche relatively too small to bother with...what on earth is going on?

There gotta be method to for doing this in convenient way...or am I "fighting against winds" (or however the expression goes in english)? I am either complete missing something...or, my stronger feeling, I am certainly not the only one on WF wondering about why o why

Ofcourse, it is always possible that I have had just "bad luck" that vast majority of threads that I have stumbled on does not state if the offer "works" ouside of IM even when it has not been obvious in any other way either.

What are your thoughts on this?
10 months or something on this forum, still have not found the answer, so I thought to ask. Could someone please shed some light... Thank you.

Taika

It's just a matter of focus. People come here to learn Internet Marketing. What do you think will sell best? An IM product, or Joe's book on various cupcake variations?

Now, the quality of those products? Another conversation entirely that never ends well.

It's not soley that, for example plenty of business owners including myself who do SEO. And typically no matter what niche you're in, everyone needs SEO; it's what's made me money so that's what I post about. Does it work outside of IM, yes, for example if you want to start an offline business where you market to local business owners you can sell them digital solutions. Also plenty of dicussions on how to sell things, attract clients and gernally become a better business person. Not to mention we have an offtopic forum too..

Also your post was kind of confusing, but for the explination of why.. Mostly because if someone's offering/explaning SEO, you can either a. make use of that online or b. make use of it offline with your own business.. ie. If you learn how to do SEO even though it's an online process, you gain the knowledge and expirence to be comfortable taking on clients offline..

    No, it isn't at all.

But there's inevitably a big throughput/turnover of participants in those areas, simply because starting off in those areas is probably the commonest single mistake that beginning internet marketers make. Many of them aren't still here a year or so later, admittedly, but their places have been more-than-filled by others destined to repeat their experiences.

Because their potential customers are all internet marketers.

If I make my living promoting cauliflower soup recipes, and/or domestic desalination technology, and/or private jet hire, I'm still an internet marketer, and therefore in the target market for "IM niche" products and services, to promote my business. Even I'm not going to pay $40 to list a cauliflower soup recipe product as a WSO, because its potential customers are reading cookery forums, not internet marketing forums.

Internet marketing is a generic term. But not so much here. In this forum IM or Internet Marketing most often refers to people selling info products that focus on how to MMO, make money online.

All you need to do is apply those principles to anything else you might be selling. It might be kites, herbal tea, smart phones, or Shetland ponies. The techniques are pretty much the same regardless of the product. It's up to you to take the "general" information and make it "specific" to what you're doing.

I wish that there was a separate section for those in the MMO game...and one for the rest of us. I hate having to sift through all the threads, and especially start reading one...only to realise that it's for those in the MMO niche.

Which I'll never be a part of.

Indeed! That would be handy for everyone, no matter which niche they are on. Ppl outside of MMO niche would not need to sift thru all offers that aplies only to MMO niche, and likewise ppl in MMO game would not need to see offers outsideo of MMO niche...ALSO, many ppl are in several niches, and it would be handy for them too...they could search the threads more easilty according to their current focus...

Starting to be a little more clearer to me, thank you for the answers so far.

Cuouple of things.."Also your post was kind of confusing" Sorry for that, it may be confusing because I am/was confused about the topic..thats why I asked it.

"Not to mention we have an offtopic forum too.. " Im not sure if you refer this being offtopic thread, but if so then: (Like I said) "I hope this thread is in right category...not offtopic, but not exactly "money making discussion" either...trying my best to self moderate...) " if not then sorry for misunderstanding. Thanks for the SEO example, even tho pretty obvious.

"It's just a matter of focus. People come here to learn Internet Marketing. What do you think will sell best? An IM product, or Joe's book on various cupcake variations? "
Thanks Joseph for bringing the word Focus...I may do better if I just focus on what I need and want from this forum. Yes I agreee IM product will sell better than Joe´s cupcake book..but I bet quality PLR package on self development or dating niche sells pretty well too for that matter.

Alexa, thank you for your input...I remember reading your posts quite often and I always learn something.

Ok, I try to explain my question from diferent angle...take soloads, here is a typical line you can find in the offer: "100 click quaranteed" ...and there are quite many of those kind of offers...but nowhere in the saleletter it says what is the niche. Most likely IM/MMO for sure, but there are also ppl selling soloads for different niches as well...some sellers has lists on several different niches, yet they rarely mention what niches...until someone asks, then they say "yes, I also have list on self development niche...how many clicks do you want?"
So yes, while I am here to learn internet marketing and therefore am "target market" for most of the IM products/services, if my niche is self development why would I want to buy a soload to a list of subcsribers who want to make money online?

I understand that no matter what my product/service is, if I do online marketing I am still internet marketer. But sometimes I do not fall into target market of certain IM products. Soloads (outside of my own niche) is one example. The line is alwasy not that clear, and that is why often ppl have to ask "does this work outside of IM market". Like I said "Ofcourse, it is always possible that I have had just "bad luck" that vast majority of threads that I have stumbled on does not state if the offer "works" ouside of IM even when it has not been obvious in any other way either."
So has it been just coincidence...don´t you guys ever see someone asking if the offer works in other niches too? I see it all the time...

    Always interested to learn more...thanks.

Solo ads are advertisements anyone can purchase in a newsletter or to a mailing list. They are not exclusive to MMO because there are newsletters for virtually every interest. If you were raising guppies, there are people who have newsletters on that topic. You could probably buy a solo ad in one or more guppy newsletters.

If you were interested in growing your own food using hydroponics there are plenty of people writing email newsletters about hydroponics where you could purchase a solo ad.

Again, people talk about general Internet Marketing here all the time. You need to make it specific to what you're selling. It's not that hard a concept.

Thanks travlinguy. I appreciate your feedback.
Altho, I know what soloads are, but many soloads on WF ARE exclusive to MMO. I know I can buy soloads for just about any topic, yet sellers in this forum fail to tell what is their target list. On just about any other forum (where you can buy soloads to different niches) they clearly specify/categorize the niches they are selling the ads to, and you can choose based on that. It is not hard consept for me to tell what I am selling, I know what I am selling. Is it hard concept for soload sellers in here to tell what THEY are selling? Its like starting an travel agency operating only online, but on their website you can not see where they sell tickets to. You have to contact them and ask if they sell tickets to Rome...only to find out that they sell tickets only to cities in US. Why does the buyer has to seperatelely ask to which niches you sell soloads to instead having them listed? It takes about 5 seconds for the seller to type: "this is MMO/IM list" or "I have 3 lists: one in IM/MMO niche, one in dating and one in weight loss. Let me know which on you are interested in"
OR, if the seller has big list of different niches then just say something like "too many niches to mention, tell me your niche and I will let you know.. "
But I guess thats how it goes in this forum...WF is weird animal indeed, not that I don´t like it tho. This is just one of its odd characters...

First off, I want to compliment you on your attitude. Some would get bent out of shape when every poster didn't leap to agree with them. Makes for a much better discussion, for sure.

One thing to keep in mind regarding the WSO forum. Many of the sellers there are still learning the art and science of marketing, so they fail to include things which are very obvious to them and not obvious at all to someone reading their offer for the first time. Maybe this thread will further someone's education...

One reason, I imagine, is that if said ad seller listed niches potential buyers would assume that's all that's available. Much like you did in your original post - 'is WF only for people in the IM/MMO niche?'

Another reason is that if enough people want solo ads in a given niche, a good ad broker will acquire opportunities in that niche.

Because a) self development is a very popular niche for marketers to target and b) professional salespeople, marketers and business owners are among the largest consumers of self development material as a group, they're easy to reach, and they do buy just about anything that promises success or an edge over the competition.

Thanks John. That makes sense. I picked "wrong" example. My point was, that if I am in totally different niche there would be no reason for me to buy soloads from IM list. Say, if I was in golf niche I would not be buying soloads from learn to speak spanish list (nor from MMO list)

I usually take concepts people are using in the MMO niche then try to apply them to other niches.

Or I'll hang out in the offline forum and do the same thing. That has worked better for me than anything I have tried so far. So I'll keep doing it and keep trying to expand my own unique niches... by studying what the MMO people do.

    It does help.

Non-IM PLR used to do very well here I've heard (and the very best still make PLR work). The problem though is that this industry is very conducive to the "money see, monkey do" type. People see someone have success with PLR, they all do PLR. They copy the same few niches (or just the IM niche) because they saw others doing it, and cannot (or will not) risk trying something of their own.

Is it annoying? Sure. But it's the nature of the beast. You learn to kind of roll your eyes at it and go about your day. Nothing is stopping you from going into the niches you want to, so who cares what all these people are doing? If you're not in the IM niche they aren't paying your bills.

Thank you for the input Joseph. Insightful...I started with rather "exotic" niche and I am still doing it because that is what I am interested. I took self development as an example...while it would be logical expansion/broader market to my current niche (which is part of SD, depending how you categorise), my niche allows many different other angles too...gonna go to what my heard desires for sure. Not what other marketers do. That is the first lesson I have learned in internet marketing, to pick a niche that I am personally interested and need to be willing to dedicate time and efford (and some money) to it in order to build long term business...I quess I have been lucky to find right, honest mentors from pretty much the beginning....

..I started with PLR products (gotta start somewhere...) but since then I have created my own (+ outsourced something that I could not create, like software)

But sure, I have been also quilty for shiny object syndrome at the beginning (despite the fact that my mentors warned against it..)...as an concequence, I have MMO related products to sell and subscirbers in MMO list too (but by no mean as many as on my main list in main niche)...not too sure what to do with those tho...sure I make couple of sales here and there, but they are taking my focus away from my main niche...but would not like to just throw it away...trying to best way to capitalize those assets...maybe I should try and flip them...anyway, hanks for the support.

The bulk of my money is not made in the make money online arena. I teach people how to do it, but the actual niches that my customers choose only sometimes fall in the MMO arena. Solo ads are common in the IM niche. You can find email lists in other niches too. In fact, forum owners can be a source for lists outside the IM niche.

What I would love I see is a WSO style forum where all of the products for sale were details of business opportunities/setups...Similar to the entrepreneurial books that you see in the bookstore.

You'll see it every so often in the WSO board (like ticket brokering).

The closest setup to this is on eBay in the business opportunities section where people sell some business models in blueprint format. You also see some ClickBank products that revolve around specific business blueprints.

(As an aside, there was a magazine that used to give you great detailed business blueprints called "Millionaire Blueprints"...Unfortunately it is no longer published!)

The appeal of that is most offline business models will get you much quicker cash flow than most of the online affiliate models that dominate the WSO section.

I have some relatives that see what I do and yet they have more of an interest in reading about the latest offline micro business models with some insights/tips from the business owners in the trenches that do it themselves.
