Earning from a List - How to do it?

It's often said that the money is in the list. That's why I'm looking for recommendations on how to sell or create follow-up messages that sell to a list. I know how to drive traffic and get sign-ups. I have lists that I have created with thousands of people in them. I just don't know what to tell them to take advantage of the massive potential of a list.

So with that said is there any content or ebooks recommended that will give a tutelage.

(Please keep in mind I generally avoid the "make money" and IM niche. I also prefer to earn income as an affiliate.)

There are tons of books, ebooks on the subject, too many probably. Thing is, there are really none that show you how to write the e-mails, exactly what to send, or how to build a relationship with them, thats something you need to do on your own, every one is different. Sure you don't want to sound just like another guru. right Guess I am saying, you need to put your personality into it, and no one can teacdh you that.

I am no list expert, but as a subscriber I buy from those that I like, provide me with content (not just sales pitches), that send interesting messages.

Is that any help at all?

I agree, writing the messages, or what to write is the tough part.

In a perfect online world, list building would be the way of developing trust with individuals who are actually interested in your marketing message and/or product. Simply put yourself in their position and work out what you would like to receive in an email. Offer them good information/ free software/ebooks in bi-weekly follow up emails. After about five emails slip in an affiliate linked offer, then back to free information for the next five emails. Rinse and repeat and constantly test you results. Experiment and test. Develop your own system for your list. Hope this helps and gives you some ideas.

I think the key to writing good emails to your list is to a) have a firm command of the niche to whom you're writing; b) write casual, personable, easy-to-read copy.

As far as products, recommend something you believe in.

For me, the biggest part of making a list "hot" is developing a rapport with them. Forget about jamming sales messages down readers throats and actually start speaking from the heart on the issues of the niche. REaders can generally tell honesty and if your being brutally honest with them they appreciate it and in the long run will buy from you.

    just my 2 cents.
