Yahoo answers waste of time!

Just thought I would share my yahoo answers experience with people. Recently I've noticed that yahoo answers users have a habit of reporting good answers just because you drop a link at the bottom. I've had a few accounts banned and to be honest I'm annoyed to say the least. I always take care in what I write and offer real informative help. It's just not worth contributing anymore.

Hmm, I've made about $1000 off of 10 hours work using Yahoo Answers.. Granted, it took about 6 months for all of those sales to come in, and things may have changed a lot in the past year and a half, but I still do see the occasional sale come in from answers posted well over a year ago. I have about 33% best answer and they've all had links in them.

Usually only posts that are pushy or obviously trying to sell something are reported. It also depends a lot on the niche you're trying to get a link on there for because some niches have far more people who are used to people trying to do what you're doing.

Using "You can find more information here: *link*" or anything like that is obvious spam. Don't try to sound like you own the site you're linking. There's always going to be people trying to report you, especially people in specific niches who know exactly what you're doing.

Also: Are you posting suspicious looking links or non-cloaked affiliate links? I've seen a lot of new people try to post naked Affiliate URLs which are ugly and a dead give away to quite a few people.

Yes i had accounts banned ... even level 3 accounts...but the trick is to chose a niche where you dont step on BIG Boys Toes!

I don't use yahoo answers anymore either! I usually find that people don't give educated answers just their opinion or a poor quality answer hat seems crazy.

I have to say that my experience is very different from yours.

I suspect I know why. I think that the extent to which you get into trouble for dropping your link depends on how frequently competitors "report" your answers there. The reality is that some niches are far more competitive and cut-throat than others.

I've done quite well with Yahoo Answers, overall, for targeted traffic, opt-ins, sales and even for backlinks (though backlinks are hardly, in themselves, a reason to do it). I post long, constructive answers, with a link in only about 15% of them and a determination to "add value" (which makes it easy, normally, to be selected as "best answer", in an honest situation).

There's some luck in it, too, I don't doubt.

I beg to disagree. Yahoo answers can gain a lot of traffic from ranking high in the search engines for high traffic terms. You can get traffic both from SE and YA but you'll need to get to Level 2 to drop a link.

Also try to get at least 50% best answers. There's a technique on how to get that. It's quite easy. Just choose posts that have 1 or 2 answers. Most likely, you're answer will be chosen as the best because of less competition.

If you're posting a link in every answer, it becomes quite obvious you don't give a rats ass about the giving a helpful answer but just plugging whatever you're selling. Also, the more forceful the dropped link looks, the more likely someone is going to report you.

By any means it is wrong perception. Sometimes we got banned. But not all the time. Try to find out your own mistakes and try your best not to do the same mistakes again and again.

I do not use Answers either. I found early on how touchy they are re even subte advertising combined with posting legitimte aswers. Plus as someone said befre a lot of the answers given are very poor and not informative. At least that is my experience.

It's not a total waste of time. But it's not the best use of time. Especially if you do more spamming than anything.

I do give a lot of help in my answers so I feel a link is a small
Price to pay. I often write article length replys so that's what I'm going to do from now on just write articles instead at least it will pay off in the long run.

I've posted links to my own site and others many times and never been banned. I tend not to have much problem with getting my links into the post. Generally they stay put if you just put them in the source box but they don't seem to drive as much traffic as when in the actual post.

In some topics there's fierce competition between spammers and they'll report any answer that has a link back to a site just to eliminate competition.

So, if you can answer questions legitimately with the product at hand referenced appropriately, then your fine---

Tip: Take time each week to cruise over to yahoo answers and check to see if there are any new questions that cover a problem that your product can solve. Put the best answer you can, and call it a day till next time.

If you just try to place your links at the bottom of your answer, definitely you will get banned.
In order not to get banned, respond the question with quality answer, giving solution to the thread maker. Even you place the link, people won't report abuse.

I use Yahoo Answers for two reasons: to put my link in the source box and I also use the question and my answer in my blog. Not sure if Yahoo would have an issue with that, but I do alter the question a bit, just to make it sound more professional. My answers are blog entries in themselves, so this way I have a new post for my blog and I have also included my link. I normally get best answer, so I make sure it is a really quality response.

I have never considered using Yahoo Answers for that at all, it sounds like a good idea. How much time do you generally spend answering questions?

I gave up Yahoo answers a long time ago. Why? Because they don't manage well that reporting system. Like you said many users report good answers as wrong. I don't understand why. For many months more than 50% of my answers were chosen best answers. One morning I opened my e-mail and found that 20 of my answers were reported(all at once). I have send a ticket to their support and never got an answer back.

I have had good luck with yahoo answers. I don't use it much, just as a way to get a backlink to a site. It doesn't hold the power of articles or guest blogging but it is a quick easy way to increase your rankings.

I am using yahoo answers since 2006 with a lot of success. The key to successs is to provide really good answers and place a link only if necessory.
If you are using it solely for promoting your offers or creating backlinks then most likely you get banned. you have to add value.

    Cheers

How much time would you say you spent answering questions? Assuming you couldn't answer EVERY questions with a link, I'm wondering if it would be worth it. I use other sites as well for leads, but I'd definitely start using Yahoo Answers if it isn't too time consuming.

whenever I place a link into Yahoo answers it never goes to my homepage, it always goes to a specific page that has to do with the question. Sometimes I will write a blog article before I answer so I can link to good info for users

For me Yahoo answers have worked well. It is true that for certain niche Yahoo answers won't do well even if you give detailed answers. But at the same time there are many profitable niches where your answers don't get reported even if you spam like hell!

I know this well as I am using Yahoo answers since 2009. And my success is only increasing from this Q&A network from Yahoo. During this time I have also discovered some useful tips for using Yahoo answers which is helping my Yahoo answering campaign.

What I like most about Yahoo answers is some of my questions also rank in Google naturally which again gives additional traffic to my website!

When I last targeted yahoo answers I created an account for each separate nice or product and throw in a few answers without a signature I think I did about 1 in 5, this way when the yahoo answer police check your profile they see that you are not just there for SEO SEM value but to play a role in the community.
I believe if you spread your answers over separate accounts and mix a few none signature answers you will get better results yahoo answers if done correctly can make you a lot of money.
