Advice needed --> Entry popup or exit popup or squeeze page?

I have a blog which offers good contents, and of course, I want to build my own list as well. Right now I'm using an entry popup which asks people to subscribe for a free eBook. However, it seems not to be working at all. No subscription and getting kinda disappointed.

My question is which works better in list building:
1. Blog with entry popup
2. Blog with exit popup
3. Squeeze page

Any advice is much appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Squeeze page worked much better for me. I tried Popup Domination and they just leave the site as soon as it appears. But I still put an aweber form top right of my sidebar.

Thanks for your advice. I actually did put a entry popup as well as a form at the top right sidebar. I will digest your advice.

        2) Everyone else is going to tell you to a/b/c test it and see what works the best for you because your niche will respond differently than other niches.

Thank you too. I find all warriors are very helpful. Looks like my impression towards squeeze page is not very correct. Squeeze page does not give people options, its either sign up or leave. So I thought it is too hard on my visitors, I want them to have a look at my blog to let them know that there are a lot of great stuffs to read and hope that they would come back and eventually sign up for my freebies.

Am I having a wrong mindset here? I'm confused.

    Squeeze page.

If you are going to be a list builder you need to be a list builder. A lot of people think list building doesn't work because they are trying to incorporate way too many tactics or businesses models into one site.

Nothing wrong with blogging and having a sign up in the side bar but don't confuse this with real list building.

I know you feel you are losing visitors by using a squeeze and you may be losing a few but .. with the correct squeeze page you are pre-qualifying your traffic and those who do sign up will be a lot more responsive.

Wow this sum it all up. I have an opt in on a blog that has gained me 0 opt ins. I used a squeeze page, got 23 opt ins.

A blog has two types of users:

-- The repeat visitors who haven't opted in
-- The repeat visitors who have opted in
    -- The first-time visitors

For the first-time visitors, what works definitely is something
that resembles a squeeze page. This page will then have a
redirectory "skip this" at the bottom.

For the repeat visitors, use the sidebar opt-in, the
content opt-in form at the end of your post and the timed
    pop-up.

Exit pop-ups on a blog... Well, they might work, but you
could lose some repeat visitors who get annoyed.

aweber sidebar and a squeeze page anyday. The newest and the most effective optin pages are like an image in the background with just an email submit.

Frank Kern, Chris, Andy are all using it and I recently did that too and LOVE THE CONVERSIONS!

      Hi P.Sharma,

I'm not sure I understand you regarding the newest optin page. Can you show me yours as an example?

      Thanks.

If you're split-testing, remember two important things ...

    • Include a split-test using "none of the above" (because that one may well be best)
    • Test them according to the money you earn over a period from the lists formed with them, NOT according to the number of people who opt in: the biggest list is usually not the most profitable list, and there are reasons for that. <---- This one really is "the classic mistake to avoid"!

Here are threads which may help you ...

And this explains how squeeze pages can cost you money (as indeed they have proven to, for me, every single time I've split-tested them): http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...ml#post7005227

      Alexa,

I can't express how grateful I am listening your advice. Your advice is always genuine and mind blowing. No matter which way I'm using, I should rate the effectiveness of the method using the amount I earn per subscriber, not the number of opt-ins I obtain. Thanks a lot. I think I know what to do.

      Thanks alot.
