October Kindle Sales drop? Anyone seeing a decrease in sales this month?

For the Kindle ebook publishers her on the forum have you seen a drop in your kindle ebook sales either last month or this month?

I know there are multiple threads on the Kindle community forum about this being either an algo change, keyword search function change or reporting problem with Amazon recently.

I'm concerned as at the beginning of last month I started with around 83 sales per day but they took a dive around mid way through the month to around 60 per day.

Now in October they started out even slower at around 55 per day. I'm concerned because if not a reporting issue then what is going on with Amazon all of a sudden. My sales were consistently going up as I added more stories and then all of the sudden they are going down even though I add new stories every week... doesn't make sense.

Just wanted to see if any other publishers are seeing the same thing?

Thanks,

TedK

Im glad you brought this up, because i've spent the last couple days asking myself a very deep, wise and thought-provoking question: What the F**K?!

Yes, my Kindle sales have dropped a lot this month. Sad to know yours have dropped as well, but glad to know i'm not alone.

My numbers are a tad lower this month, but not that much lower than last month's numbers. I will have to keep an eye out though the rest of the month. Thanks for bringing this up!

My sales are still looking very consistent. No drop on my sales "yet".

Well I still don't see a great improvement yet but their has been a little increase since yesterday. I just can't figure out how certain stories that were selling 2-3 times as many in the US are now selling half of what they are doing in UK sales... just doesn't make sense as they have been consistent all throughout the year and then all of a sudden the drop.

And to top it off is that I have been seeing the decrease even though I keep adding more stories??

Oh well... I just hope it is a reporting glitch instead of a algo change that will keep effecting sales. It's like the Google adsense / adword days when you really think you are making a killing and can retire and then the big boys change the rules and pull the rug out beneath you :-(.

My sales and free promotions have almost come to a halt - from certain sources I've heard a lot of speculation that Amazon are testing a few new things in the Kindle Store, not sure how valid this is but I can only go by what I've heard.

Hopefully this is all just some poor glitch on Amazon's behalf. Only time will tell on this one unfortunately.

Yeah... I just hope if a glitch they get it resolved soon as I was just getting up steam with this and had just about put my retirement pants on :-) when this started this month!

Yeah, a lot of authors in my group are complaining of lower sale numbers this month and mine are a bit down as well but not too bad.

(However, a lot of these same people have mentioned that B&N sales are up. Being Canadian and forced to publish via Smashwords I have to wait and see what the figures are, but curious if any warriors have noticed the same thing?)

Maybe it's a natural lull due to the Christmas session fast approaching?

I actually worked with Kindle for 2 months a couple of years ago and the period before Christmas was really quiet and then November - December - Early Jan was hectic.

Everyone that is interested in Kindle self publishing should get involved now, that way you can get a series of books up, make one free on Christmas day and reap the reward!
