100% Beginner wanabe Internet Marketer

Hey Everyone,

I've been interested in Internet Marketing for quite some time now but to be honest, I really don't have any idea where to even begin? I have a decent eBay store running generating roughly $2000 a month $3000 on a good month & I spend so many hours on my listings & the pay off I'm starting to feel is not worth it.

I don't mind spending 16 Hours a day 7 days a week on a system that will have a much better turn around than my ebay store.

I edit adult videos for a living with a Bachelor's Degree in Film Production (Wasting)
Film jobs are Miami is impossible to find and I went to 3 different art schools

. Music Engineering (Associate's)
. Film & Digital Production (Bachelor's)
. Film Directing (Started Master's Program had to leave due to loans an extra $70,000 debt)

and am currently in student loan debt for over $500,000!

Which adds up to (Student Loans = $3180 a month.... & that's interest only)

I need to get out there and start writing my scripts again and doing what I love but unfortunately between working full time (adult video editing) and when I get home (ebay) I can never have time for my script.

I am looking to quit my day job with all the information I receive here and begin my journey to Internet Marketing.

Not looking to get rich (who isn't) but what I mean by that is all I would like to accomplish is roughly $6000 a month to be content.

I will have all the time in the world to do this and I am far from lazy I'm ready to work 100 Hours a week to accomplish this goal.

I really hope your advice can point me in the right direction.

Thank you in advance..

Bobby

    Hi Bobby,

As your eBay store is making some money, could you scale it up to make it more money? What if you hired somebody for $200 a month to do the work you are doing to scale it up and make it less work for you?

Just be careful about quitting your job and leaping in to marketing - it can take weeks or even months before you hit the income you want and you may find yourself struggling in the meantime.

You could create video intro's and sell some of those, you could do some video work and offer your services on the warriorforum, that could work too.

Think carefully about what you want to do online, create a proper, solid plan of action and then focus on it and don't get distracted by the shiny objects promising you $5000 a month working an hour a week in your underwear! It doesn't happen!

If you put together a solid plan, take consistent action you can definitely succeed. There are plenty of good free resources here for you to look through and get to grips with it all before you start spending money.

Good luck with it and drop me a line if there's anything I can do to help!

      Jason,
Thank you so much for your response.

I have tried to expand my inventory by as much as 1000 more items and for some reason, I am not selling like I thought I would be.

I've been at the ebay store thing for a while now and I guess I'm looking for other ways now and sticking to 1 that works and give it 110% of my time to make it happen.

I read about people in affiliate programs making $2k - $5k a month without selling any physical products. And I have experience online and I figured maybe I'm putting too much energy in the wrong thing.

I'm looking into that but every site I check is selling a package which right now I might of spent at least $2000 in these BS things.

I'm not looking for the auto pilot make $1 million in a week plan but rather something tangible that works and generates roughly what I earn from work.

Please let me know your thoughts.

      Thank you in advance..

    Bobby,

Good to see that you are a willing person with very well defined income goals. Simply put, all you need to do is to look for tasks that equal the money you intend to make.

Make sure that you don´t try to find a way around the hard work. With 100 hours a week, you have a total of 2500 hours to invest over the course of the next 6 months. If you are hardworking and dedicated, it should be enough to make $2500 to $3000 a month.

I don´t want to point you in any direction in terms of niche because I have no idea about your unique talents yet. If you don´t mind telling us more about what your talents are, I´m pretty sure that we are able to give you more specific feedback and tips.

    Best,

      Gerald,

Thank you so much for your reply.

I see you live in Singapore, I applied for the NYU Film Masters Program in NYC & Singapore about 3 years ago and didn't get accepted there but got in the NYC program.
I had also applied to Columbia NYC Program which I attended for only two semesters & was forced to drop out due to loans not going through.

I always went to Art School (Music Engineering AA, Film & Digital Production BA) & hope to do an MA in the near future.

I say that to say this, I have over $500,000 in student loans and paying the interest every month alone is about $3000.

What I think my talents are besides Film & Editing? I really couldn't say.
I've went I far as Hong Kong 3 times in 2 years and crossed over to Shenzhen to meet with manufacturers and try to get my online business to generate $2 - 3k a month so I can focus on my Film career.

Any advice on what is a good way to go I like the idea of selling physical products where you never actually have an inventory. That's what I know how to do and I would love to learn about how the marketing side generates income vs me selling items in my store.

Thank you for reading this long answer and please let me know what you think when you find the time.

      Thanks again Gerald,
      Bobby

Let me get this right. You edit porn for a living and you're depressed?!

Seriously though, there are plenty of opportunities online for those who are willing to work hard. Most people fail at this game because they chase the magic bullet -- something that will make them a ton of money with very little work. The fact is that doesn't exist. Everything takes hard work and if you are ready and willing to put in the hard work, you will likely succeed in this business... or at least have a much better chance than most others.

My advice to you is to pick one thing and stick to it. There are plenty of proven ways to make money online. One of the easiest ways is to build a list and make money by recommending products to that list. If you can laser focus on just that one thing over the next year you could easily have the income you are hoping for... actually a lot more.

The absolute worst thing you can do is to fill your head with too many ideas. Just pick the one thing and forget all the rest. You will get there much faster than those people who are constantly chasing the latest loopholes and magic bullets.

Even a thread like this will give you way too many ideas and potentially slow down your initial progress. I told you one way that many people use to make money online. It works. There is absolutely no doubt about it. So go and get started on that right away and don't stop until you make it work.

Focus + Action + Determination = BIG Success

      WillR,

LOL... you edit porn for a living and you're depressed??

      Thank you for your response.

Yes, not depressed at home or a depressed person but depressed in a work environment. Editing Porn can take a serious toll on you and in the past, I use to think "wow that would be a great job" but imagine watching porn for 40 Hours a week for almost 4 years now....

Porn is cool for it's intended purposes but to watch it for a living is a completely different story.

You have hit it on the money exactly what I'm searching for..
Make money recommending products, I'm not too sure what building a list is.

I tend to fill my head with many ideas but this is the main thing I am interested in.

Please fill me in on how I would start a business recommending products whenever you find the time.

      Thank you so much WillR

You could offer your editing services on Fiverr or people on this forum! There is no such thing as a get rich quick scheme but it is possible to make a living online. You are doing well with your ebay store, as was already suggested could you scale it up? Perhaps you could show others how to do it and create your own product and sell it on here!
Leaving your job is drastic so think about what you would like to do first and if it is possible. One thing I would say (as did WillR) dont get caught up with buying everything that sounds like it will make you money fast. Decide on the direction and stick to it. You could end up wasting a lot of money in your desparation to make money!
    Good luck.

      Thank you for your response.

Fiverr sounds interesting and can definitely look into that.

What I realized that I'm looking for is making money recommending products.

But thank you so much for that & I will definitely look into that.

I will stay at my job after all of your great advice until I reach my goal then I will leave.

Thank you so much and any advice on how to get started with making money recommending products will be greatly appreciated if you find the time.

      Thanks again,

      Thank you for reply

I realize quitting my job before replacing my income is not the wisest thing to do after reading all of your replies.

I know there is no Push Button I am ready to put it all the work necessary which I already do but is not working for me.

I need to invest that time in something more profitable.

      Thanks again,

Yes I agree with Jason Johns. I ran a construction business and did network marketing for years. I only make $4k a month on the side while still running my construction business. You need to completely replace your income before quitting your day job no matter how much you hate it. It may take you months until you reach your income potential, so work it smart.

I think your best bet to get some cash coming in right away would be to take your skills and offer them on sites such as Elance & Odesk. Fiverr is not going to make you the same kind of money without monopolizing all your time. Although, if you have a related backend offer that you can sell to clients on Fiverr or any other freelance site you are posting on, this would be a great way to capitalize on the services you offer.

Why don't you set up a website offering your services and then start posting on forums with your website advertised in your signature link. You can also use the site as a place to direct customers from your freelance jobs to purchase other products/services from you.

You could also advertise your services on Craigslist. I have even hired people on Fiverr to do the posting for me.

I hope you find the success you're looking for!
