WordPress: The MOST Powerful CMS script ever?

I have read a lot in this forum that almost 99% of you recommend WordPress as the best CMS for almost any requirements.

Well, I believe so, given the experience with WP.

So, have you seen any websites that harness the power of WP?

Any websites that behaves like a normal, don't looks like WP, website and is powered by Wordpress?

Any e-commerce application powered by Wordpress?

You should try searching google for these questions, there are PLENTY of solutions. And yes, IMO WordPress is the best of all out there, especially the new 2.7 version, with powerful plugins

    Hi Joseph,

WordPress is not the best CMS - It sucks as a CMS...

It has a few features which make it suitable for internet marketing like automatic pinging, it's fairly well optimized, you can get plugins to enhance usability etc.

I agree with Colin. Wordpress is not the best, but it has few great features for marketers built in. There is also a lot of great plugins available. Anyway, wordpress is still my first CMS choice.

That's why I put my post title as a question.

      Do you recommend other CMSs?

What is the best CMS then?

If you use applications like Artisteer - joomla template generator and wordpress theme generator the possibilities are endless.

Asking what is the best CMS system is a bit like asking what's the best way to make money... It depends on what you want to do.

A few popular CMS platforms are:
    Drupal
    Jaws
    Joomla

      Agree.

Every platform has strengths and weaknesses. But you have to start somewhere.

I have focused on building websites using Wordpress (CMS themes) and SiteSells SiteBuildIt! I can quickly do what I need to do for my clients using these two platforms. How did I get good? Because I have spent way too much time in front of this computer, learning the software and the platforms.

So figure out your end result first, then find the best solution you can at the time. You will never figure it all out. You just have to focus on your goal (a website that sells!) and crank it out.

Pick a platform, build your site, and get good at doing what you do...

      Just a suggestion.

Wordpress may not be the best but it is the solution I use exclusively now to create sites and blogs. I do not even code static pages anymore just a little code in WP pages and posts.

My favorite CMS's were Joomla and Drupal but not as user friendly and I have tried many.

As someone said find a solution that uses a platform and stick with it. I can set up a rather nice looking WP mini site with sitemap and SEOed with all my favorite plugins in under 2 hours and that is with a cup of coffee in one hand and my content ready to go. THis includes submiting to all my favorite RSS agregators. Using this method usually see traffic start trickling in within a few hours to a week or so.

My favorite plugins that round out my installs ...
        All in one seo
link cloaker (for affiliate links but does not work well with some plugins)
Google Analyticator (for google analytics )
        Google XML Sitemaps

My money's on Drupal for anything commerce oriented, especially media based commerce.
Joomla's great for anything community minded.
Both made Wordpress look pretty woeful as they have a lot of features that Wordpress simply cannot handle, even with plugins.
Don't forget Coppermine if you just want to have an image gallery...

But that's the thing. He didn't ask what was the most user friendly, he asked for most powerful.
Wordpress falls way behind in that stake.
The native blogging features of other CMSs out there outweigh it in raw form. You shouldn't have to use plugins and addons just to play catch up.
          It's like the iPhone.
Great advertising campaign, and it looks nice, but it's missing so many features that should be in there out of the box, it's simply not funny.

I just love Wordpress and use it for absolutely everything I do because it's easy peasy to configure and you can get some fantastic themes that don't look like blogs.

The site in my sig is a Revolution theme that I turned a lovely shade of pink! ;-)

Do you know that the YouTube video featured on the home page of your website doesn't work? It says "We're sorry, this video is no longer available."

      Just an fyi...

        Hi Mike

If you refresh the page it will work. I've noticed with YouTube that often that comes up (even when you're actually in the YouTube site sometimes), however if you refresh it (sometimes more than once) then it will work.

Thanks for your feedback too. :-)

I'm not sure if it's a connection thing or a YouTube thing??

Are there any experts in this area who know why this happens??

          Michelle:

You're right. I launched a new tab with Firefox, and viola! Your YouTube video is there.

You are using revolution theme. I had a YouTube video on the home page of my website, and I had some challenges. I am trying to remember what I did to fix them....I know I had to enclose the YouTube video url code within some additional html tags...If I remember...I'll post them here.

I do all of my sites in wordpress now, and currently I'm now resurrecting older domains from a few years ago (from the directory generator days) and making them auto blogging sites using a few different plugins that work well with each other. Within a couple of hours I can take an old domain and make it into something that people would actually want to visit. The way WP lays out sites too is perfect for search engines to figure out what the site is about.

You just can't beat the power of Wordpress when there are so many free and paid plugins to make each site truly unique.
