Going in a new direction

I feel as though I have made a big leap today as an Internet Marketer.

For the last few months I have been hanging around here soaking up all the knowledge I can. I have built blogs, niche sites, and lists in an attempt to make money, all which have failed.

I realized today that the reason they have all failed is because I have spread myself too thin. I always tend to start a new project before finishing the previous one, and because of this nothing ever gets done. I have chose topics based on keyword research, but all of the topics were things that I am not at all interested in, making it hard to follow through.

Today I decided to put an end to all of my half finished projects and focus all of my time and energy on one site. This site will revolve around something that I am passionate about. I am not building this site simply to make money, but to offer solid information to anyone interested in the same niche. If I start pulling in steady traffic down the road I will certainly monetize, but that is coming second to content.

Hopefully this new attitude will put me in the right direction and I can start a new thread a few months from now telling you all I have made my first dollar online!

You want to do both. If you are not making money, you are wasting your time.

You need to focus on one strategy and then work it till it brings you an income. This will not happen overnight of course. Once you create enough content and you get a steady stream of people to your site and then get some of them to buy, then you can create other systems or websites.

I look for traffic sources. When I find one I see if I can monetize it. The niche matters very little.

Figure out how to get some traffic, the rest will be easy.

This exactly. Find a place where the traffic is already at and give them what they already want. This is a lot easier than building what you think everyone wants and hoping to get traffic to the offer.

Finish your project, profit and then start and invest into new project. Jumping from one project, to another is just a waste of time...Many of us suffer from this...it was not only you

That is the right thing to do mate! the common mistake many new Internet marketers do is too spread themselves too thin.. Since you have gathered enough knowledge, stick to one program and one strategy and make it work no matter what it takes and you will definately succeed!

As other have said, you want to make sure it will make money. There are a few different ways to look at what a "market" is that may help you there.

    1. A "market" is a problem that needs to be solved.
    2. A "market" is a very specific area where people are already spending money. "Travelers" is too general. "Travelers interested in ancient Mexico who can afford at least a 3 star hotel" is more specific.

Always focus on one project at a time. What I do if I start to lose focus is pay for something expensive needed for the project because then I will work harder to make it happen.

Just yesterday I loaded a traffic account for a particular type of traffic I cannot use for any of my other projects with a few hundred bucks. I was putting the final touches for the project off for about 2 weeks! Know what? I sat down... coded and graphic designed my @$$ off yesterday and today and now its done!

Yes you are 100 % correct get 1 site going before starting new projects. I had a bad issue with this because most of the money I made was through adwords direct sales and it allowed me to promote several products. The other real important part is building your list. I can not stress this part enough BUILD YOUR LIST at the same time and own your traffic.

Its good to get into something you're passionate about.

Just make sure that you're still solving some ones
problem. You still want to make money and
providing a solution to some ones problem is
    the way to do it.

Also, concentrating on one project is the
thing to do. Make money with one and
    go onto the next.

I have come to this conclusion myself. Focus on one business model and keep at it. A sound strategy and a market composed of prospects who want the product or service you provide (assuming you provide something of value) can and will become successful.

I too am focusing on one niche and one tactic. It's hard to delete all of the emails promising a short cut to success but it is necessary to keep your mind on the task at hand. Good luck with your efforts.

It's not necessarily picking one money making venue and focusing on that one solely, it's really deciding on what your plan is going to be, all the various legs of it, and then sticking with that plan, executing it daily or at least with regularity.
