Membership sites, best and fastest way...

Back here after 2 years of hard working.

My question to Warriors:

- What is nowadays best and fastest way to open membership sites?

My plan is to open memership sites where main content is learning videos. Also later mayby Forum and Affliate program. What is best solution for my purpose?

How about payment prosessor. If I use PayPal, do I need some kind of business account, I dont have business yet, just normal private account.

How about tax policy? Do you have companys and pay taxes to coverment?

Regards

John

You can use optimizepress to create membership sites fast and easy. Also, if you are in the US you can upgrade your personal account to business, free, without actually having a registered business. This means accepting payments under your business name.

hey, I have been using Optimizepress and tips and trick's Emember...although I have loads of membership site plugins, (I seem to buy every one that comes out!). Getpremise has got me excited at the moment as it's built on the Genesis platform and IMO is much better than optimizepress. What's more, the membership functionality is built into getpremise too.

All membership sites I develop in future will be using getpremise, looks like the best option out there to me.

How do you like Emember from Tips & Tricks? I was considering purchasing it but it's hard to see why this membership plugin over Wishlist which is the "market leader" that everyone seems to use or maybe DAP which has been mentioned a lot.

Any reason why Emember is a good choice?

  • In my opinion, the best is Amember, but it's probably not the easiest. The easiest is probably Optimize Press + Wishlist.

I'd like to throw this software out there too: Easy Member Pro

It's been years since I used it, but recently I've come back because they appear to have really ramped things up with all sorts of new features. My first membership was set up using EMP, and I quite honestly had it open within hours, because it's all in-built.

Niche membership sites works very well today. I would suggest finding some unique niches. There are still many hot niches available.

I have lists of profitable niches. They are rare and very unique but not too bad demand.

Regarding videos, if your target market is global, i would suggest not too rely on videos. Because it needs quite fast internet connection.

Regarding paypal yes you need at least premium account.

I use Optimize Press + Wishlist Member.

Wishlist is by far the best membership plugin on the market as far as I'm concerned. I also own Premise, which is cool but doesn't stack up to WL.

I have used / tried plenty of the aforementioned Wordpress "plugin" type membership software platforms and have been disappointed with them all.

In addition, 'technically speaking', I don't like the concept of such an important part of my online business being integrated with such a fluid and ever-upgrading, open-source platform like Wordpress.

Personally I don't like the risk of WP mixing the waters with payment and membership details. The database tables for wordpress should be for content and nothing else in my humble opinion.

I've been building and running membership sites since 2008 and don't think there is any "perfect" solution out there.

However, the approach and platform that has caused me the LEAST issues is what's known as the "walled garden" approach where you put your fee-based content in a protected directory and secure with Amember and handle your sales funnel and membership content with Optimize Press, or just straight HTML pages. Just to be clear here - this is NOT the Amember Wordpress integration: I tried that and didn't care for it either.

The new Amember 4.x product is light years ahead of their old stuff and handles affiliates, etc. very nicely.

Like I mentioned above, I don't like that WP integration for a lot of reasons and want my payment gateway and membership management software to be a standalone system.

Amember is a platform I've found to be extremely solid, secure and flexible. I know a lot of people find it a little harder to set up, but they will do it for you if you like as part of their purchase options if you don't have the time or skills. It's built on a code platform called the Zend framework, which is extremely stable and secure.

Plus the guys at Amember are extremely good at customer service - any time i've needed something sorted out because I was pushing the "envelope" and broke something, they have been swift to fix it and get me out of the ditch. I don't have ANY affiliation with that company or their software, I'm just speaking from experience.

I also agree with the other guys who said that Optimize Press is a winner. For sales funnel management and your membership content, it's a near perfect solution and you own it as compared with other options like Kajabi where you have to pay monthly.

Your question is a little "loaded" in that putting together a membership site properly and intelligently takes time, planning and good tools. I've learned from experience (too many times), that "short cuts" usually mean things will take so much longer because I have go back and fix stuff the shortcut was intended to eliminate in the first place.

Membership sites (when done right, as a real business) are of one of those "price, speed, quality: choose any two," type-situations.

You can see what one of my sites looks like with the above software products I mentioned above here. (for Optimize Press) and here (for Amember).

PayPal is great and continues to see higher conversion rates due to the fact that it is increasingly considered an acceptable way to do business for buyers. You can upgrade a personal account to a Business Account for no charge, but you don't need to if you're just getting started. They will also reduce their 2.9% rate once you're doing $3,000 or more per month, but you have to CALL IN to make that happen.

And yes, I run my online business through a company and of course pay taxes accordingly.

Anyway, hope that helps you out and best of luck in whatever you choose to do.

    b.

I would also suggest WordPress + WishList + EJunkie. It is a good combination. If you think it is meeting your needs well and optimally, then I suggest you should go ahead with it. If not, you can still look at other close alternatives and see what covers your requirements best. That should do great for you. Good Luck!

I agree with subbun. S2member plugin for wordpress is great and has a lot of features when you use it for Wordpress. It is the quickest way to get up and running. If you don't know how to install Wordpress software, try a hosting provider like hostmonster where it can be set up in a few easy clicks

A plugin called MemberRocket just launched today from Martin Crumlish and Todd Spears. It's the new best option for membership plugins in my opinion.

It does everything the others do plus so much more... it's simple to use and set up compared to the others, and since it launched today, you can get it pretty cheap. I spent $70 on the unlimited domain license... compared to the $300 wishlist cost, you have a winner.

Here's a link... it's not an affiliate link: Member Rocket: the last membership system you will ever need to buy

Thanks a lot about your help!

Today my business plan is to use:

      - WordPress
      - OptimizePress
      - Wishlist
      - ClickBank

I choose Wishlist, because I don't know anything about technical stuff and coding and I have heard that Wishlist is really easy to instal etc. I choose Clickbank, because I heard that it works well with Wishlist and also secod big reason is, because I want to start own affiliate prorgram and Clicbank handles eveything (also paying). If you use E-Junkie you have to do it your self = more work and it's not full automated.

Today I get my salesletter ready and I like it My product is in niche where is no competition at all. English is not my mother language (I write books with my own language) and I need some help with spelling etc. I try to find some copywriter or Sales Letter -specialist to check spelling etc.

I also planned my membership sites MENU -options and Affiliate program -text. I also made content plan (teaching videos what is main thing in members area). We are going to shot the videos in 2 or 3 weeks, so I have a good time to practice and create.

One big question is that I have heard that I have to use Amazon (something) -service to upload my videos there. And before that videos have to be in perfect size that they run fast. What is that perfect size? My videos are shot by television professional, so mayby she can also help.

I desided that I don't want to use e-mail marketing and first page with free video, because I think its too complicated for me and also my english is not in that level that I want to create tens of e-mails. I think that if you have really good and qality sales letter and good content, it's enogh.

Today my plan is to buy domain name. Where I can buy it? And how I can connect my domain name with another hosting company? How I can create Thank You -page in my membership sites that nowbody else can't see it. Sorry about my silly quetions, but I'm putting together my fist internet site ever.

Arter domain name, my plan is to buy space from Web Hosting, Domain Names, eCommerce - Bluehost.com and instal Wordpress. Then get OptimizePress and instal it. Lets see how complicated that is?

One big question is how to connect Product, Wishlist and Clickbank together. I mayby need some help with that.

My plan is to sell one time payment membership.

      Thanks

      - John

Today I heard about: GVO WebHosting where is FREE e-mail autoresponder and video hosting!
Do I use bluehost.com + Aweber + Amazon (for videos) or GVO?

My plan is to open membership sites where content is mainly teachig videos. I'm going to use WordPress + OptimizePress + WishList + Clickbank. My new plan is that there is landing page where visitors get free gift (they give their e-mail address). After that sales letter. CAN I USE GVO for this purpose?

My first plan was to use Amazon for video hosting and Aweber for e-mail marketing. Why GVO is better or is it?

GVO is good (tho not as good as aweber in my opinion) but in terms of getting domain, hosting and autoresponder all under one roof for a reasonable cost you could do a lot worse than GVO.

Also, GVO support is excellent! You can live chat to a member of the team and they are very helpful.

Profits Theme, is there a reason why no one has mentioned this one yet?
It does great membership sites, and is fully inclusive. ie. you don't need any plugins for it to work well.

By the way, if you were to step outside of Wordpress, I'd recommend Drupal and Moneyscripts.net for a highly scalable membership site with a ton of options. Downside is the learning curb is huge with Drupal.

I've just set up a membership site and I used WP Memberchamp along with S3 Flowshield in the end.

If you just need something very basic without drip fed content and a single product/price Memberchamp is the quickest solution.

If you want more complexity, I saw a membership plugin called Rocket Member a couple of days ago that looks quite good.

Do not buy anything from Cumlish, Theresia, et al. Read reviews on here for other products put out by them. My two cents. I prefer OP and DAP on backend, but that's also my two cents. I've used s2member and it's great, but does not integrate with what I needed which is WSOpro. Other than that, s2member is great and free. If you need great support (crucial for when there's a problem) then DAP is the way to go. Of course, I can't speak for the other recommendations, i.e. wishlist, etc, but have heard great things.

    Be well,

you can always do a email drip membership (autoresponder)and sell it using a simple website. Rhodes brothers and others first taught this. I use direct responders to mail 9.99 a month no increases ever and as many autoresponders and messages as you need.

NEVER buy into membership sites or any product that you are dependent to return to the website for. Buy ONLY immediately downloadable products. EVERYTHING ELSE is ULTIMATELY worthless because of its temporal nature. I have tons of sites I have purchased memberships to, or products from, that are no longer in business and I cannot get the product from them, nor can I get a refund. That was money TOTALLY LOST for me.
