I currently use this free one which is pretty good - WordPress › WP-DBManager « WordPress Plugins but am seriously considering switching over to WordPress Backup to Dropbox because of its integration with DropBox.

Oh my mistake... then here's one that backs up the whole site - BackupBuddy - the premiere WordPress backup plugin to backup, restore and move WordPress | iThemes

I used to use, and liked, backup buddy, but I really didn't want to keep paying every year (and really only needed to backup the MySQL db anyway)

    Hope this helps

I use WP Twin and it works like a charm. You can create and restore backups within couple clicks. I have also used Backup Buddy but I must say WP Twin is simpler and better than any premium solution.

Thanks, this seems to be a great option, though I wish they had a video on the salespage showing how it works.

Are you still using Backup Buddy and paying an annual fee?

No, I am not using Backup Buddy anymore because WP Twin is more convenient for me.

I am sure you can find a demo video of WP Twin but here is how it works:

        1. Upload WP Twin Backup file in the root directory of you blog.

        2. Log in to your WP Admin.

        3. Access the WP Twin Backup file. Create and download backup from the same page.

        4. Do a clean installation of Wordpress(I use Fantastico).

        5. Upload the WP Twin Restore script and backup file in the root directory.

        6. Log in to WP Admin and run the backup restore script. Click restore backup and you are done.

        Hope it helps.

Wow Arunabh Singh.... Great mini tutorial on WPTwin. I've been considering it but wasn't sure of the learning curve. You make it sound way easy. Thanks

Duplicator is a great free plugin for creating backups. Although it is designed to help webmasters clone and migrate their websites, it works as a great backup tool too and it's absolutely free.

I'll put another plug in for Duplicator. It's very useful if you have a site where you only occasionally do updates as the backups require a manual process (very simple).

The upside is that it is very easy to restore your backup to the same domain, new domain or different host.

My only concern is that it seems a touch technical and it is a free plugin. My concern with free plugins is that over time they don't get updated as the product owner loses interest or moves on to other products.

Technical? Duplicator would have to be one of the simplest and easiest WP backup solutions I've tried.

You click on one button, wait for the backup to complete, then click on the download button.

Doesn't get much easier than that.

While Duplicator is a free plugin, it is very well supported and updated.

I had a minor issue with it the other day and put in a support ticket and the author fixed the problem within 30 mins. That's better support than most paid products.

I know my preferred hosting company does automatic scheduled backups but as far as Wordpress backups go,

WordPress › BackUpWordPress « WordPress Plugins

Seems to be pretty popular and has a lot of votes.

I use BackWPup and have it back up to sugarsync. I don't pay a dime and it's worked well for me so far.
