So I've just used urlappraisal.net....

...and it's saying my domain is estimated to be worth $2,754.10.

How much stock can I put in that appraisal?

How reliable is that site?

The stats on my domain are:

Google PR 2

Domain age is almost 2 years

Alexa ranking is 9,782,960

There are no Google or Yahoo inlinks

I only bought the domain recently for about $10 and would happily sell it but how can I be sure what it is really worth?

Thank you.

I estimate that appraisal to be worth nothing.

It's worth what someone is willing to pay for it.

Like Dan alluded to, don't trust these appraisal sites.

    IT's only for reference.
Maybe they use scripts. That's by machine - Not by human

Is the information it provided on PR and Alexa worth anything in terms of adding it to a description if I do try and sell the site?

You can provide it, but the most important statistics are actual traffic and earnings.

Sorry, but I don't really have a lot of experience selling domain names.

But the only way I would buy a domain name myself is if there is great content, if the URL is highly sought-after (for whatever reason), or if the website is bringing in a good amount of revenue.

Other than that, I don't know why anyone would buy your domain name, especially for that ridiculous amount that you just posted.

If I'm wrong, someone with more experience in this area please correct me.

        Hope this helps a bit.

It really depends on the domain name. I've sold domain names (no completed website or content to go along with it--just the domain name only) for high prices like that.

When you're selling domain names, you need to research what comparable domain names have sold for. And that only gives you an idea of what the domain might be worth. It's actual worth will depend on what someone is willing to pay for it.

For example, I sold a domain name earlier this year (or maybe it was last year), and I checked what comparable domain names had sold for. What I wound up selling it for was about half of that. Could I have found another buyer willing to pay more? It's possible, of course, but I had a buyer in hand and had already sat on the domain for a couple years, so I sold it.

For anyone still wondering how accurate they are I searched a few well known sites -

    Google.com - $3.3k
    Yahoo.com - $3.3k
    WarriorForum.com - $3k

Personally I think they're all overvalued
