Entrepreneur Or Internet Marketer?

I like the sound of "entrepreneur" better as it gives a sense of ingenuity or invention while "Internet Marketer" could very well involve doing what many others do.

I personally feel the same way. Marketer feels more like you are merely doing what everyone else is doing, not that this is necessarily true, but i do think there is a difference between IM and Online Entrepreneurs

I think if you are creating a product, then you are an Entrepreneur.

If you are merely promoting someone else's product then you are an IM.

To me; an internet marketer is someone who is out to make a quick buck and an entrepreneur is someone who builds a sustainable business. Of course, you can be both.

an internet marketer is just someone who uses the internet to market their business. It just so happens many internet marketers market how to internet market.

I definitely prefer Entrepreneur - I just never spell it right

I spend a lot of time creating my own product and there is of course some marketing involved, but I am building a business for the long term - not out to make a quick buck as many IM seem to be. (not all of them of course)

I agree that an the difference should be that the entrepreneur builds his own product and makes a business of it. The IM (although not exclusively, but just for this example) is an affiliate.

I consider myself a web entrepreneur. I am just not good enough at marketing to honestly think of myself as a marketer, but since my online business is doing pretty well, I can safely call myself "web entrepreneur." Plus, my first web business was launched when no one even was talking about IM, so I am not very attached to this term.

Ha yea I agree Entrepreneur just sounds more professional and in a way more empowered, I don't know why I just perfer Entrepreneur over Internet Marketer not that an IMer sounds bad but just a preference.

Internet marketing is a method that entrepreneurs do if you work for yourself.

If you do internet marketing for a boss than you're an internet marketer.

No different from a telemarketer.

Once you start business you are now Enterpreneur. But you have to promote it through different ways i.e. Advertising, Media, keep in touch with social sector or using Internet. So here Internet Marketing is one of the important tool of promoting your business.

So here at warrior forum we are Enterpreneur as well as internet marketer because we want to improve our business through Internet.

I am both. You can't be a successful IMers without being an entrepreneur. To get free you need that drive to succeed, and most 9 to 5ers don't have that.

People use words very differently, don't they?

I don't instinctively think of "entrepreneurs" as necessarily having anything to do with the internet at all. I think of it as a much broader and less specific term. I do see that some internet marketers might legitimately call themselves "entrepreneurs", too.

I think affiliates, perhaps more than other internet marketers, can be said to be "entrepreneurs"? An "entrepreneur", literally is "a taker in the middle" or "a taker in-between" (that's what the "entre" part means - which to me sounds pretty much like an affiliate: i.e. not the vendor or the customer, but the "taker in the middle"?). But these days, especially the adjective "entrepreneurial" is a lot more loosely used, as well.

  If you are applying for a loan I wouldn't advise using "entrepreneur". That title on a loan app is viewed the same as "broke" or "unemployed" by lenders. As a career path, unless your name is known... an entrepreneur gets no respect in the financial world.

i think entrepreneur is the general description of our mindset but internet marketer is the most specific term to describe our business, if you met someone and he asked you what do you do if you answered i am an entrepreneur he will think "oh that's the polite term for unemployed" but if you said i am internet marketer the idea of the websites and making money online will popup into his head
Steve Jobs (RIP) is an entrepreneur but he is not internet marketer, you don't see him sell his apps on apple store

When I tell someone I'm an internet marketer.. I usually received 2 expression from people:

1) Jaw dropping face
2) or a BIG-EYE face (with a loud "WHAT" 2 seconds later)

I'm sick and tired of explaining the definition of internet marketer. Now i'll just tell people I work from home. If they ask what I do, I act blur and change subject.

I know this is not the best way to communicate with others, but at least this method is working for me best so far.

Any suggestions people?

Internet marketer is more solely based on the actual marketing of the product or website.
In being an internet entreprenuer, the person is more based making or creating a business.

I have always thought of an entrepreneur as someone who owns their own business and internet marketing as an avenue that the entrepreneur would use to grow their business making him also an internet marketer but the two being different.

Ouch, tough one. Since an Entrepreneur is a person who organizes and operates a business or businesses and internet marketing also requires you to utilize these abilities as well........... I'd say just dieting is a market in the health niche Internet Marketing is form of Entrepreneurship.

Entrepreneur = Someone that makes a difference to many peoples lives, creating a product or service.

Internet Marketer = Someone that promotes the entrepreneurs products.

The word Entrepreneur gets thrown around far too much these days IMO. People starting up T-Shirt "company's" are calling themselves entrepreneurs. Give me a break...

Now if you are doing IM and creating a product or a service such as creating a startup then you can class yourself as what ever you like.

An entrepreneur is NOT someone that simply owns their own business. Every electrition or brick layer is an entrepreneur... I think not.

I consider an entrepreneur someone who generates wealth through the creation of valuable solutions to real problems.

I think that an internet marketer is more of a 'reseller' typically - selling other peoples ideas.

So, entrepreneur builds and designs the car.

The internet marketer is the salesman.
