If Google allowed 1 ad on their homepage...

If Google allowed you to post one ad on their MAIN homepage google .com and charge you $10k for ten seconds, then would you do it? The ad will look like a sponsored link when you are searching in Google.

No. People go to the homepage of google to be taken somewhere else. It would hardly be targeted either. A total waste of £

I would, but only because of the publicity I would get. That price is a ripoff for ten seconds, even at three billion searches per day.

Since there are only around 90000 seconds in a day and it gets 3 billion views a day, it may be worth buying if you was a company like ebay because you would get around 350k views to an ad in 10 seconds, depends on the company and how they advertise online.

I would only do that if I had a competing search engine that was better then Google.

10 seconds for the publicity is not enough .
People start ignore Google Adwords while they understand that is a ads, so i don't think 10 sec would be enough to catch much traffic and turn to conversion rate.

No way. I would want to target a focused audience rather than a random one. Unless, of course, I get it for free.

As Frank said in his post, maybe if I was Bing...

Don't know about the price point though.

Are you saying that someone wouldn't take a screenshot of Google's first advertisement on the homepage (I believe)? Right....

I can guarantee you some big name news sites would cover Google's new use of ads on the homepage. That's a whole lot of publicity if they include the picture of your ad.

That is so so so true!

The advertiser would be mentioned in every major news site and would go down in news history. Overnight fame.

ONCE UPON A TIME there was a Warrior named Bob. He was sad. And frustrated. You see, Warrior Bob spent every last nickel on Internet Marketing e-books. But nothing panned out. No traffic. No sales. He was one sad Bob. Then one day Bob found a bottle. He rubbed it and out came a Genie who granted him 3 wishes. For Wish #1 Bob asked for a pet Dragon. Wish Granted. For Wish #2, Bob wanted Warriors' websites seen by 53 million TV viewers, for under $5 per broadcast. The Genie said... (click here)

          As a point of reference....
          • During the Super Bowl (90 million viewers) it costs about $1 million dollars for every 10 seconds of tv commercial time.

          • It costs over a quarter million dollars to air a tv commercial during Grey's Anatomy or CSI. (over $100k for 10 seconds)

...Eyeballs-wise, I wonder how that compares to paying $10k for 10 seconds on Google's main page.

I will not sue it as that much visitor even will not be able to see my website as my website will be down due to over traffic.

It would depend on what business I was promoting. In all honesty for the money I think it would be worth it. Think how much a commercial costs for a 30 seconds on primetime television or during a good football game. We are talking hundreds of thousands minimum.
