Yes, Article marketing really works.

Article marketing has several purposes. It's used to drive traffic to a blog/website where an affiliate product is sold or your own product/services are offered. It's used to get people to clickthrough to a squeeze page for a free report. It increases backlinks and it can boost your ranking in the search engines.

I'm no guru when it comes to article marketing, so there is hope for all of us. I managed within 2 days and only two articles to get my nearly brand new website to rank on the first page of Google using the phrase unleash the power of publicity - no quotes and power of publicity no quotes.

The article had Unleash the Power of Publicity in the title, once in the first paragraph and once at the end. My bio had power of publicity as the text link back to my site. It doesn't hurt that my last name is Power. Or that power of publicity is in the url.

The articles were first published on the new website. I onlywired them. The articles were then submitted to ezine articles and distributed through articlemarketer.

I will also be setting up several squidoo lenses and a couple of hub pages. For those of you not familiar with hubpages, the content has to be unique and not appear anywhere else, even on your own site.

So there you have it. Article marketing does work.

    Hi Dee,

Spot on - article marketing sure does work and the back links for low competition keywords are effective.

Note to those who want to use this method - it's important to choose keywords which get some traffic (or will get traffic if they are "hot" product related).

Articlemarketer.com is not a free service, but for me it's well worth it. I think it's $89 every 3 months. I also use isnare.com which isn't free either but it's just a couple of dollars per submission and reaches a different audience than articlemarketer. Or it seems to for me.

On a subject I know it only takes me about 20 minutes to write a 400 word article and another, probably 3 or 4 minutes to submit it.

Since my site shows up on the first page for power of publicity my next keyword phrase will be - how to write a press release - that has more competition.

One of the pages on my site will be named how-to-write-a-press-release.html It will have that as the title in the meta tags (without the hyphens). The first header in the page content will be How to write a press release and I'll use the phrase probably twice more within the content.

I have a couple of other business sites so I'll link to my new site using that keyword phrase as well.

After the page is up I'll start submitting the article. And then twitter the link to the article to my twitter followers.

Dee, thank you for your helpful post, but I do have a question.

Many top marketers recommend using a squeeze page (which is not formatted for SEO and keyword rich content)

Should there be TWO strategies for Article Submission?

          1) for SEO (keyword rich links and anchor text) and
          2) for "rapid traffic?" (But.... if your articles aren't getting well ranked, how might you count on much traffic?)

I am very confused by this dilemma. Any thoughts?

If you use a tool like nichbotclassic.com to study your keywords and write articles that are similar to what you want to write about but that don't have as much competition as the main key words, then you can rank pretty high fast. The key is to keep your keywords in your articles natural and with the flow of the article so that they are picked up by the search engines.

If you do a keyword research on "Unleash the Power of Publicity" or " Power of Publicity" you will notice that there is no traffic for the keyphrases. In fact according to Google there is "Not enough data".

So anyone who optimise their webpage for this keyphrase will be on the first page of Google.

There is no point to be on first page when no one search for you.

You got the point there. Article marketing really works in any ways such as, getting backlinks to your site, selling an affiliate product. This is one of the purpose why many clients in an online job site offer article writing.

Congrats on your success! The fact you proactively set up a plan and made it happen is really great.

I see you also have a blog - you can easily increase your SEO/SERPS/rankings via a methodical series of targeted blog postings. I do that myself whenever I want to give myself an added boost for specific keywords.

Best wishes for your continued success,

    Barbara Ling

The wisdom in your plan is that you came up with what you wanted to accomplish, devised a road map to how you would get there, then performed the necessary steps to get it done. Many people don't fully plan an article marketing (or any type of marketing) strategy out and just dive in to perform one aspect of it. They then wonder why it didn't work for them.

    Nice work and good tips.

Thanks for sharing Dee! Article marketing does work and so get to work people! Start writing articles for keywords that you find...

Content is king! That is so true... And if you don't like to write, or can't write in English or just prefer someone else to do it, you can hire an article writer or buy PLR articles, for example...

Works for low competition, but it goes far from that if you want to use article marketing to rank well on high competitive keywords.

I have already written several articles ready for submission. I sit okay to submit the same article to different article directories? Or do I need to rewrite each article for each directory?

I'm already starting at article marketing, so this information is valuable to me,
there is a lot of points to be taken care of, but most importantly is to take action
and write and submit at least a couple of articles everyday.

I will be posting my results in the forum

Yep, I agree it does work I have had an article in the number spot on Google for the last three years, I just wished I used an anchor text for my link instead of just linking to one of my sites.
