WordPress and HostGator

After careful research and reading your opinions, I have decided to choose HostGator as my hosting provider (and Wordpress.org as my platform)

I have noticed that in shared hosting they offer three different plans: Hatchling, Baby and Business.

Which one do you guys recommend for a starting affiliate marketer?

Thanks in advance.

I used baby for 5 years and in that time built a multiple six figure a year business. I just upgraded to business.

So start with baby. It's enough. For a while.

In fact, I probably didn't even need to upgrade to the business plan.

I also used the Baby plan for a long time and the only reason I upgraded was so I could offer hosting to my blog buyers.

Baby should be fine for you. Good choice, Hostgator rocks!

Yep... go for baby... It should be more than enough for a strating Internet marketer.

There's no point in spending more!

When I started, I never spent a dime on the internet. I've always kept my IM income on a different hand and wont spend anything online more than what I've earned online!

I have a reseller account with HostGator, so I can host lots and lots of sites...and I must say that their support has been great. I have had issues from time to time, and their responses have been timely and efficient.

No host is perfect, but I think that choosing HostGator is a great choice.

And using Wordpress for running your websites is also a great choice. I am surprised every week by something that Wordpress can do. It is supported by a great community, and their are plugins and themes for virtually everything you can think of!

And with Wordpress, to build your website, you get to focus on adding great content, not messing around with html.

    Good choices!

      HEy guys,

I have been thinking of going with Hostgator as well...my current host only provides EMAIL support...I am assuming I can get someone on the phone with Hostgator? I get more than 500 logins per day on one of my sites and more than 35,000 page views, and TWICE the site was shut down for bandwidth, and I was not notified beforehand...ridiculous.

You should definitely go over to HostGator.

All those problems will instantly vanish!

Outstanding support, via email, online chat and phone, 24/7/365.

I've never been able to "stump" their tech support guys and gals, and I've
thrown some really tough technical questions at them. In every case, the
response was immediate, exactly the right answer, and the perfect
resolution to the problem at hand.

The baby plan should work just fine for you. It is what I use and I have had virtually no problems so far. I also get a good amount of traffic as well.

However, if ever you decide to create an authority site in whatever niche you are in the you will probably have to switch to dedicated hosting. But that is only if you are getting TONS of traffic so you won't have to worry about this for some time most likely.

I've gotten HostGator on the phone quite often so that has never been a problem for me.

I like my Business account because I can get a free SSL certificate and unique IP address. That's pretty important if you're going to have a shopping cart or something like that on your site. People really like to see that secure padlock when they are filling out forms on your site with their personal information and especially credit card information.

The "included" SSL certificate and the unique IP are the main reasons to go with the business account in my opinion.

If you want to host just one domain it will cost you $6 in hatchling plan and if you need unlimited domains its $10 in baby plan so as per use you can choose. If you prepay you get some discount on these payments. There are always first month free codes like "jury" which you can use.

Don't remember what the coupon code is, but type in ´Hostgator Coupons´ into Google and a blog should show up with all of the current coupon codes to type in while you're on the Hostgator payment screen. One of them makes your first month only cost a penny.
