Has anyone tried this?

I want to know if anybody has started making money on the internet in a similar way to what I am about to write about.

Ok, So I am a firm believer that it is possible to make money with no money. So I set myself a challenge. I wanted to prove to my wife that it was possible to make at least any amount of money (could even be a dollar) without investing a cent. So this is what I have done.

First I gathered all my skills and started blogging about them on blogspot.com on different blogs, two to be exact. One is about RC model airplanes and the other is about Soap making. Added AdSense and have made like 5 dollars out of that. Strictly using SEO and very few backlinks to relevant forums.

One of the other ways I have made just a $1.38 so far is what amazon affiliates. Yes it is pitiful, but let me make clear it took me like 5 minutes to make that amount. And I only posted 2 links with no reviews or anything. I just suggested they buy those books How did I do it?

Well I do have somewhat of a head start. I am somewhat of an authority on the Soap and Candle making niche. I have a FB page that has a few hundred likes but these are likes from real people that follow a lot of what I have to say about that niche, they are pretty hungry for recipes and relevant information. So what I did was I posted some books that I have used on the past and some that I haven't tried but saw that has good reviews and were relevant to the niche. To my surprise people started buying the books and money started appearing on my affiliate account.

One of my other free blogs I posted a review about an ebook from clickbank and somebody purchased a copy and I made $21.00 of commission there.

Not one ad, no backlink all free services. This might sound completely stupid and slow but it sure is proof that you can make a dollar without investing anything. Plus this is without doing any real work. I wonder if I could scale this process and then invest the money I already made this way and scale...in theory it should work. It would be slow as hell but in theory it can be done.

    In theory, yes.

It's just a shame (and so unnecessary, given the free, safe alternatives available!) to do it at Blogspot where (as so many Warriors have found out, so repeatedly) your sites can so easily be deleted - sometimes just as part of an automated process, according to Blogger themselves - whether you've knowingly breached any terms of service or not.

    Is blogger blogs worthy?
    have blogspot energy?
is Wordpress really a better choice than Blogger in my case?

Like so many Warriors who have had this happen to them so often, I'd advise anyone intending to try it to do so somewhere other than at Blogspot.

      Hi Alexa,

Could you elaborate please on some other "free, safe alternatives"?

I personally wouldn't touch Blogger or Squidoo or Hubpages with a stick and am interested to hear your alternatives.

      Thank you.

You could do the exact same thing with a Wordpress blog on your own domain without the fear of it being deleted by Google. Godaddy is having a sale on .coms
now and they are only $3.99, I believe.

That, and a good hosting account that will cost very little will get you started for under $10 and will be on your own domain.

Good plan, though - keep it going and scale it up~

Thanks for the replies! Oh yeah, I mean WordPress is like the standard of blogs and for webpages. In this case it was just to prove a point I guess...I do own a business and do plan to transition into just working at home full time by early next year or sooner. And that includes building websites with Wordpress. I do have a website for my business with it's own domain and all. This was to make as poor as possible and still make something out of next to nothing.

You may be able to do many things for free, but like others have suggested, if you seriously want to make money, you do need to invest a little in the basics like your own site and hosting, etc. If you even had a budget of $100 that would keep you going for quite a while.

A big advantage you have using blogspot over your own domain with a wordpress site installed is that you will have instant traffic at blogspot since your post will appear and be read automatically by many.

How to solve the issue of having your blogspot account deleted without affecting your business terribly?

Host your own wordpress site and monetize as you wish with adsense or affiliate links or whatever floats your boat.

Now, go out on blogspot and do your blog posts from time to time but do them in abbreviated form. Learn how to tantalize them with part of the story then lure them back to your own hosted blog from the blogspot blog.

Now if you lose the blogspot blog, your repeat visitors can still come back to your main blog and you can simply start the blogspot blog over again.

Now, grow that. Blog in other locations and post in article directories. This way you will continue to build up your network that generates you traffic, but you will never lose your real(main) site.

Diversify to lower your risk. Not only in your traffic sources, but also in your monetization methods. What if adsense shuts you down? What if Amazon shuts you down. There are alternatives so why not spread yourself around. Monetize using dropshipping, adsharing, heck, sell banner ads if it makes sense.

The more you diversify the less vulnerable you become.

And build a list too, use twitter, etc etc.

      Have fun.

Not on this planet, I'm afraid.

Don't imagine that the high page rank of Blogger's own home page is somehow going to translate into traffic for your PR-0 pages there, because it just isn't. The site having a lot of collective traffic doesn't bring targeted traffic to your pages.

Even what you're suggesting you could do at Blogger (in an attempt to minimize the business disruption if you lose it) is something you can just as easily, and more safely, do elsewhere. Also without spending any money on it at all. It's just completely unnecessary and without additional benefits to use Blogger for this.
