Hello Warriors,

I have a question for you guys as you can see from the thread title. I was hoping some warriors who have done more testing than I have might be able to give a good answer to this question.

Can one make up for the other?

Can great copy overcome poor graphics?

Can great graphics overcome poor copy?

Please let me know what you guys think.

This is a very good set of questions. I would love to see the results of this thread! This is something I am often in 2 minds about.

I have always been of the philosophy that less is more but then somethings demand to be explained

I believe that both need to be in place. that said I have seen some big launches where it was plain old copy. I would also suggest that traffic providers are just as important. Good traffic killer copy, and some nice images makes for a good launch.

In response to your question....Graphics can not sell alone, but copy can. Copy is King at the end of the day.

the heck with graphics... copy sales.... I never once bought an a WSO because the graphics compelled me too... if anything I get turned off when the sales copy is graphics based.

I'll see your hypothetical and raise you one...

Can a page with just copy and no graphics sell?

    All day long.

Can a page with graphics and no copy sell?

    ...

    Therefore, etc, QED.

      He said it right there...

Graphics are not a big deal, but sales copy is what persuades the customer into a buyer... not the graphics.

Actually, ideally, GREAT graphics with GREAT copy is the best way to go.....

But I guarantee you that many will disagree. Probably because they have never seen great graphics used to enhance great copy.

Can one make up for the other? Graphics are not supposed to sell on their own. Words are always needed, even if it's only 1 word.

Can great copy overcome poor graphics? Probably, I see it all the time, or at least hear people saying it does on the Warrior Forum

Can great graphics overcome poor copy? Probably not. Graphics can grab attention, but the copy needs to keep their attention.

Great thread to start sharing your thoughts.
This question is usually being brainstorm by others.

For me, Copy and Graphics is both important. It depends on how you used them.
Let me give you a situation.
How can a design service provider company impress their visitor with the service when they have a compelling sales copy but poor graphic design? How could they attract people if they just focuses on the copy?
    Does it make sense?

Well at this very moment, lots of people are working hard for their product launches. Being in the digital world we need to apply what is new to impress people not just focusing on the Copy but focus with Copy and Graphics.

    Hope it helps.

    Cheers!

I would have to agree with a lot of the great points brought up. If you really think about it good sales copy trumps good graphics.

Now I know its a combination of many things but does this mean that Copy is the most important thing we should be focusing on?

I mean great copy with no traffic = no sales but good quality traffic with poor copy still might result in some sales.

There are so many factors its hard to decide where to focus at times.

I know everyone has there area they are comfortable with or proficient in but what is the most important part of this business?

Both should be good, but I think great sales would dominate. the content would still matter even if the graphics are very dynamic.

Great copy, all day long. Good graphics are important but they will only help support the copy.

Of course, you could combine graphics and copy to create a video and videos seem to be doing quite well these days.

I personally think having a good copy is still more important as a good sales letter can still get people to take action. Having good graphics will help to support the good sales letter. I have still seen those website with no graphics but good sales letter that is still selling the products like hot cake.
