how do you convert an AUDIO mp3 file to a swf file free?

Reading this entire thread hurt my brain: ronr said from the beginning exactly what he was looking for... convert MP3 to swf.

So far I've found really only two ways to do it. One is $39 for a lifetime license and as you mentioned, you're looking (or were, I realize this is an old thread) for free.

One program/app does a %60 conversion and then as you probably know by now, wants the $39... I noticed they don't tell you this upfront, no mention of shareware or "partialware" on their site either. But I tried it, good quality and very easy to use interface. I might consider it.

Another method is to actually use Flash but I also realize that a.) it's expensive and b.) a pain in the you know what to make a single audio file.

To answer another question that escapes most of the commenters here, the reason one would want an *.swf file is pretty straight up: smaller file, streaming audio and high quality for websites.

A standard *.cda of about 40MB (CD quality) can be "crushed" to 4MB, one tenth the original audio size using the MP3 compression. Converting that same high quality MP3 into an *.swf further "crushes" the file down to 400KB... another one tenth. Meaning 1/100th of the original size yet maintaining a very high quality audio file, the ability to stream that file so it begins to play immediately, not after it finishes loading into the client browser.

So far, no, not finding any of the links above to be worth anything. Several were loaded with viruses and malware.

I'm looking for a solution myself. I admin a few domains and use swf audio a LOT... so... I was using Flash 5 and have the program on an XP box but I want to be able to edit while on the road on my Win7 laptop. Flash5 is incompatible and I'm not dishing out more cash just for the audio capability. If I do it'll be for the $39 shareware version that worked. Almost none of the others did squat but make my system freak out with attempted B$... including a remote connection (failed, system caught it can jammed into nothing).

I find it amusing that nearly all the links provided were "dirty" or useless.

Comments like "I use this" left me wondering. Um, did you actually read ronr's posted question? It was pretty clear, concise and left no room for misunderstanding. But yet, almost all the responses were way off.

mp3 to swf is something I've been doing since the 1990's... I can load 10 songs into a domain in the space of 1 mp3...

At one point, I had over 900 songs online. All converted using Flash5.
