How has Youtube changed?

Once upon a time I made a crappy Windows Movie Maker video with some funny images, and I got 100,000 views in no time.

Fast forward to today, and I put everything I have into a video......and nothing, what has changed?

    Competition? I'd assume that youtube is getting bigger and bigger each day.

    I guess I'd suggest going after lower competition keywords, if you're using YouTube in that way. I use YT to target lower competition - but buyer oriented - keywords that are fairly easy to rank in Google. And it works pretty well. Most videos rank within a few days.

      Agreed - we haven't seen your video and don't know what it's about. It may be amazing or it may be one of those boring PowerPoint videos.

      Embed it in this post and we will be able to give you actual feedback instead of just speculating.

    YouTube is so full of those crappy videos now that it became difficult to get noticed even for the high quality videos. The question should be "What did I do to YouTube?".

    To get notices, you need to increase subcribers and views. Both ordinary and retention views by purchasing those.

    I think that the frequent YouTube users have gotten smarter in differentiating between a crappy video and an entertaining one just by looking at the title and thumbnail. People with loyal subscribers tend to get consistent views.

    No matter how boring the subject/topic is, entertaining and creative videos will garner views and likes.

    More people have been uploading videos which means that it is getting more competitive now too. Besides optimizing the video, I feel that it is equally important to constantly create video content so that there will be more videos distributing around to help attract traffic to the website.

    You tube has become everyones land. The competition is fierce and there are thousands of clones out there leeching off the successull ideas, end even stealing popular videos all the time to milk them until they get taken down. Then they open a new account rinse and repeat.

    When a place gets a crowded as youtube has, there are many balckhat marketers making things harder for evryone else.

    YouTube is just like any other website. If you want to rank you need to provide good content, build a following of subscribers and get likes and keep at it like a snowball. If you keep rolling it in the right stuff, sooner or later it will get big.
