If you could ask any top marketing mind, dead or alive, 1 question...

Who would it be, and what would you ask?

Ha! If you were meeting them live in person, you'd most likely already be at the bar.

I would just want to watch them work.

If I have a specific question, I can just come here.

Its not what you would ASK them - it would be to observe them and understand their THINKING. The only difference between you and a Billionaire is how they THINK is different than how you think.

I was fortunate to be on a mentorship call (for 2 years 1x per week) with a person who makes 700k per month. Just through listening and interacting on the call my income went from 5k per month to 20k per month in about 18 months. No "tricks" were discussed. No "short-cuts" were discussed. We read books about leadership and thinking and then discussed in the group.

All of us on the call had significant increases in our incomes. Read Think and Grow Rich as many times as you can and reprogram you thinking - that's how it happens.

    GREEDY:

True. Watching them work contains many lessons that are learned which would have never even been thought to ask. Many breakthroughs and products came from the, "Wait! What did you just do? And how did you do that?"

And yes, if you have specific questions you can ask them here.

I've always found it very helpful to picture sitting across from some of my business and marketing hero's and asking myself what I would ask them if I had the chance.

Funny or weirdly enough, most all of those meetings in my mind, became a sit down reality over the years. Many have become close friends; and several, business partners.

Anyhow, I always find it fun and exciting to ponder who I'd like to ask a question to, and what their response will/would be.

INTERGEN: Great insight! This past weekend was with Dan Kennedy and Rich Schefren at Disney. Life and results changing conversations to say the least.

The BIGGEST takeaway from the weekend for me, after the 15 pages of notes that came from the discussions, was witnessing how Dan thinks, asks questions, and operates. EYE OPENING!

Same thing happened when I moved to FL 2 years ago to work with Rich, and getting to see how he thinks, operates, and asks questions. POWERFUL!

MASTEJANI: Great things to ask for sure!

LILLYSAGE: Good stuff! Everyone has their way.

      Interesting...

...because every successful person has their own reason why they're successful. However, tt may not be a secret to them, per se. It's just a secret to 97% of people who don't know or don't really wish to learn and do the proper "secrets" or methods (better) for success.

Additionally, some people have built their fortune in some way that may be questionable... I won't comment further on that.

What I will say is that, if a successful person built him/her up using proper methods, I wouldn't mind having them watching over my shoulder and mentoring me.

Success leaves clues - wouldn't hurt to gain some additional clues.

phoenixblogger: That is a question of gold right there. Even better would be to observe how they spend a day, a week, etc. To witness them in action handling the one thing all of us have in common; 24 hours per day.

higherluv: Great point. Many of the top minds are unconsciously competent.

I would just ask for a money transfer...LOL! No, honestly.....I'd ask how many hours of sleep they got/get on average to compare with mine...and adjust accordingly! I am sure this can make a bit of difference! A mindset question probably!

HeartCardio & Alpha123: Getting my 1st mentor years ago (2004), definitely changed the trajectory of my life. Thankful I went WAY beyond my comfort zone of what was possible financially back then to attain what was to come. Sure, today there is a TON of great information out there to assist in "self-learning" but nothing shortens that learning curve like a mentor who knows what they're doing & cares. Of course you must choose your mentor wisely!

I posted something in Facebook a couple days ago that sums up success nicely:

"Decide what you want, then act as if its impossible to fail while taking massive, consistent, persistent action."

Haha, Beverley! Good one! I had a Near Death Experience in 1998, and although I wouldn't wish that car wreck leading up to it on anyone, it did give me a sense of a 2nd chance feeling, and added boldness, courage, and sense of urgency that I am grateful for...which also served my entrepreneurial journey nicely.

gebyarandyono, it is definitely a mindset and a decision. When I lost 28 lbs in 60 days, it all began with a decision...then a commitment to following through. Same thing for success and reaching your goals.

I narrowed it down to a 5 step process that allowed me to be a National Bicycly Champion, #1 Honor Graduate from USMC Boot Camp, 3 Meritorious Promotions in the USMC in 4 years, #1 in 5 sales organizations, and in becoming friends and business partners with many of my hero's:

    1: Vision
    2: Belief
    3: Identify & Align
    4: Commitment to Action
5: The Secret Step; Have FUN!
    ...aka Enjoy the journey!

That is the nutshell overview of my Success Magnet System, and if you look at any of your past successes or any great successes of history, you can trace those steps in most all of them.

bathunter: like you're style. many/most of the top marketers died not knowing that answer, and many alive still are searching for that answer.

I once asked my "all knowing" friend (not normal by any means, I know) what the meaning of success was for us humans and my wise friend replied, "joyous well being," plus many follow up answers to what that means. Definitely was one of my most interesting interviews ever, to say the least.

Theory Expert: Which top marketer would that question be posed to? Could be several dead or alive? (please don't post a name as a reply. we have to keep it kid friendly here)

...and if you're referencing me personally; which one/time are you referring to? (joking...kinda)

Many great marketers and/or leaders can trace a fall from grace to either: excessive drink and/or women.

Part of the human drama/adventure is all.

Actually he isn't a marketer. He was a con man, Victor Lustig.

Anyone who can create money without money literally, without connections literally, without resources literally, then that is someone who I want to learn from... Marketers tend to embellish their skillset to siphon money from customers. At least I know what Victor Lustig was and that gives me more peace of mind then dealing with posers. I am sure his persuasion was second to none, except he was dumb enough to get caught, which kinda takes away the mystique of being a master salesman, persuader, etc.

      Alright enough dissertation.

I think observing them work would be a great way to learn form them - everyone works differently and it would be interest to see how they go about doing everything. You might have to stay and watch them for a few days but it would be well worth it.
It would be interesting to ask them how they first started and if they were going to start over would they do things in the same way as they did in the beginning.

Short answer, "Yes," according to my unique friend that I mentioned above. The long answer to that is quite fun and entertaining.
