
List Building: Traffic Case Study
I'm building a list at the moment and thought it might be useful to people if I shared my traffic results. I'm not worried about giving this information away as my sources are far from secret.
I have tried two main traffic sources this week:
- Solo Ads
- Interstitial Adverts (Adfly)
So my first attempt at driving massive traffic to the new list was a solo ad. I found a guy online who had great reviews and so sent my ad details. I paid $40 for 125 unique clicks. The seller over delivered on clicks and I ended up getting 72 opt-ins and one OTO sale of $9.99. This works out at $30.01 spent to get 72 opt-ins. This is $0.41 per subscriber. Not bad at all!
Interstitial Adverts (Adfly)
I next set up an advertising campaign on Adfly to show Interstitial Ads as recommended by someone in this forum. With VAT, I paid $6.72 for 14,000 impressions from proxy servers (cheap, human traffic). I was astounded by the results. Throughout the afternoon that this was running, I received 153 opt-ins! There were no OTO sales. That works out at $0.04 per subscriber! I was really pleased with this.
Summary
I was blown away by the response from the Adfly campaign. I'm certain that the subscribers from the solo ad will be more responsive than the subscribers from Adfly, but I will definitely be using Adfly to build lists quickly and on the cheap, going forward.
My landing page seems to have converted well (you can view it here) so I'm really pleased with that, but I will be testing out other OTOs as this one doesn't seem to have done too well.
