Had recently created a wordpress site using a .info. Have always heard that its difficult to rank a .info. Bought the .net today to help my rankings. What I need help with is making the .net the main site. Then I'll forward the .info to the .net. Hope this isn't to confusing. Would really appreciate the help.

Thanks in Advance

Just do a 301 redirect. If the site is new, just delete the .info and start fresh with the .net.

Your website host can change the .info to .net. Just submit a support ticket.

Why not use .com? Was the .com already taken? If yes, then I suggest that you do some research and determine if you can out rank the .com. Otherwise, you may be spending money and time on a domain name extension that is difficult to compete with other domains?

Also, redirects usually do not do well in search engines. At least new sites. Too many webmasters abused redirects in the past and search engines frown on them. Also, same with Ad companies, Marketplaces, etc.

I'd suggest you to use backup buddy wp plugin to back up your existing .info wp blog, and install a new wp blog to your .net domain. WIth backup buddy, it only takes you a few minutes to do it.

If you have traffic coming to your .info domain already, you can setup a redirect in cpanel or .htacess

The .com was taken so I took the next best thing. So I don't wanna redirect the .info? Is there any real reason to own any other domains (.org,.com,.co etc.) other than selling them?

Is backup buddy a free plugin? saw a video on youtube about it, but it didn't come up when I searched for it.

That is pretty easy to be done.

go to Cpanel>file manager. download all the files there (Zip it )
Upload the files to your new domain Cpanel > file manager.

Let mw know if you don't understand. cheers.
