Alternative to Optimize Press

I am ready to invest in a quality sales, squeeze, membership site package. I looked at Optimize Press and I could not believe that, in 2013, the biggest player in this space is still stuck in 2007. Optimize Press is not responsive and from what I have read, they have no immediate plans to change that.

If that's the case, then their niche is ripe for disruption.

Can anyone recommend a comparable theme that is built for desktop and mobile?

I am looking around profits theme and I like it better as a sales page, the best thing about optimizepress is its membership area features, which is funny since its known for squeeze pages and sales pages.

I've been happy using Twenty Eleven, and customizing a child theme based on it myself. If you are not comfortable digging in to a theme, you can find someone here or on fiverr to get it exactly as you like it instead of adapting to the theme developer's look and feel.

I use TwentyEleven for getting some basic pages up in a hurry but I am at the point where I need a full featured system for getting landing pages, squeeze pages and especially membership sites that are ready to go quickly. Thanks.

From what I understand, the OptimizePress folks ARE making OP responsive with the next build. When that will be, I don't know.

Aside from the crappy looking blog and the lack of responsive (for now), OptimizePress is great. I wouldn't say it's 'stuck' in 2007; it's been awesome since then. Will be interesting to see what they have in store with the next release.

That would be great if that's the case. I read in anther thread somewhere that they were not going responsive. If there is anyone on the Optimize Press team on WF, I hope they can chime in and give us the plan going forward.

I believeJames Dyson (owner of Optimizepress) did say in in facebook page that the new version of Optimizepress (v2) is mobile responsive.

I'm not sure if PT themes are already responsive though.

If I were to choose then I'd still stick with Optimizepress since they are coming up with a new version. And for sure designs and layouts would be modern compared to the current one. Hopefully they will be releasing the new version soon (as what they have informed their clients)

O.T anyone who is currently using Optimizepress v1.xx and wanted to create mobile responsive sales/squeeze pages. just pm me. I can provide you with a custom mobile responsive template for free.

    Optimize press all the way..

It's simple to use and as lots of templates and features..

Concerning the conversion side of things.. As long as you have good copy, the template you choose you work like a charm...

    Cheers,

I think Profits Theme is great for its plug n play layout but I haven't seen anything relative to mobile use.

Fiver is definitely worth investigating, obviously there are both good and bad representatives

    BUT

It is only a fiver.. so you can afford to try a few out before you find a good quality contact that you can use to rinse and repeat!

I would roll with Profits Theme for marketing. Not only can you create your pages and a membership site, but you can also protect them. Most of the other marketers/programmers for some reason seem to think that we are only going to hook into wso, or clickbank and forget that not all us are using those services some of us want to be able to protect download pages and membership areas.

Another thing to keep in mind is Profits theme has another product coming down the pike named PT Instant that creates responsive pages. I haven't put it through my testing yet, but so far I'm impressed with the beta. You can read about it here and you definitely want to be on the beta list. Keep in mind though that PT Instant alone does not do membership protection yet anyways, but these two coupled together are all you will ever need. Check out the up coming PT Instant here. << Not Affilliate Links.

Hey BB, from what I understand, a responsive website/page means that the site/page is able to resize/scale to fit the screen/device on which you are viewing the said page / website.

                  Hope that makes sense.

Responsive is the new term meaning flexibility in device display. In the past you had to create a mobile site it you wanted proper display on a cell phone. Responsive code allows you to maintain one site and the display will change to fit the device automatically. There are some limitations but it is a step forward in device independent coding.

                Short answer:

PT Instant is a wordpress plugin, while OP is a wordpress theme. This means you can use your existing wordpress theme and you do not need to install a separate wordpress installation just for using OP.

Also, PT Instant is responsive, while OP is not. Responsive means your pages created with PT Instant will fit the visitors' device perfectly for optimum viewing -- mobile phones, tablets, desktops, laptops.

I have Profits Theme and Sales Press Pro BUT also take a look at the wordpress plugin PT Instant . Short for Profits Theme Instant by Welly Mulia that also make Profits Theme.

I am a beta tester for PT Instant and it is so much easier to use than PT and SPP but doesn't do the membership side of things. Does everything the other two does even a countdown clock and built in social media sharing!
Also being a plugin, you can install it on any of your themes, you are not locked in. The plugin is also better priced than the themes as well. Love it!
    Scotty

PS It also means that if your theme is responsive that you install the plugin on then... well your a smart man

PTInstant will soon be $97 (Currently $47 for the next few days.)
      However it says:-
"Free Updates for minor version (bug fixes, performance enhancements, etc). Minor version is numbered version 1.0, 1.1, 1.2, etc. Major updates mean significant improvements to the software, is numbered version 2.0, 3.0, 4.0, etc, and is available to customers who own the previous version at a discounted price"

Optimizepress is a one time payment of $97. **SEE UPDATE AT BOTTOM**

I emailed PTi support to find out what they anticipate the length of each version This is what I wrote:
"On your site You say that minor updates are included.
But how often will a Major update be.
For example:- if you plan a major update every 6 months it might become a costly plug in
      "

Reply - very quick reply I might add (thank you)
"We can't anticipate the duration/interval for a major update, however we're estimating it won't be as soon as 6 months"

So they will soon be the same price except OP is a ONE TIME Payment. **SEE UPDATE BELOW**

As I see it the 2 main drawbacks to Optimizepress are
      1) Not currently responsive **See UPDATE Below**
      2) Does not have a plug in version (like PTInstant)

I have emailed support at OP to see if there is a time expectancy for both above questions.

If i was building sites all the time it would probably not be an issue, but I only build sites occasionally, so PTi may be a little expensive over the long haul.

      **UPDATE**
I received reply from OptimizePress (also very quick reply - Thanks Alvin).
"As what I have heard the New Version of OptimizePress will be fully responsive which will be release next month [May 20133]. However if you have a copy of the current OP version you will need to buy the new version separately as it will constituent a new product. OptimizePress will always be a theme I'm afraid. "

      Paul

So having seen that it may be worth trying PTinstant especially at the current half price intro.

Hi, interesting question. I have been thinking this for a while too.

I have just starting using Paper Template now for all my sites that need these sort of pages. Very cheap and intergrates nicely.

I've just got hold of PT Instant - not sure if I'm missing something, but I can't see how PT instant protects premium "download" pages?

    Hi,

I've been looking at a solution for this recently and in the end all I have done is take my existing blogs theme, and made a full width page template removing the sidebar and navigation bar etc.

Then I can just drop the WSO design into that and voila! Cheap and cheerful, matches my current blog/branding and no bloated plugins/graphics ^^

I own both Optimize Press and Profits Theme and to be honest I like Optimize Press the best. From creating video sales pages, text based sales pages, landing pages and membership areas I find Optimize Press to be much faster at creating what I need to do. I also own WishList Member that integrates with both OP and PT...

Over all it was much easier to use Optimize Press and adding my own CSS was easy to do site wide as well as individual pages with OP...

    Hi everyone!

I know this thread maybe a little old but I though I would contribute anyway in the hope of helping someone.

What an absolute conundrum we all seem to be in over what to choose - OP 2 or otherwise. I find this issue extremely confusing.

I've used OP 1 and I've used Profitstheme. Personally I always preferred PT. Although it's pages aren't quite as sleek as OP it has some quirks (not unlike OP 1 truth be known) it makes protected membership very easy to achieve and it has always been several light years ahead of OP 1 in that respect. For example: Automatically adding new members to your list and so forth with minimal setting up to make this happen. And I believe it still is in comparison to OP 2 which pretty much uses s2 Member if I'm not wrong.

There are a couple of problems though toward ongoing use of Profits Theme that we face.

Problem#1: It is not responsive. Nor will it ever be apparently. I asked PT support about their plans to make it responsive and they replied they have none. How sad. They told me they are focusing their efforts on PT Instant moving forwards. But of course as someone already said PT Instant doesn't handle memberships. Arrgh!

Problem#2: I mentioned to some PT staff that given the absolute mess with the launch of OP 2.0 it would be a golden opportunity for them to snag an absolute boatload of new customers with a decent PT update. However they don't appear to have all their ducks in a row because they told me this won't be happening.

If I were them I would have had a super hot new version ie PT 2 developed, waiting in the sidelines and either released it just before OP or (much better!) just after OP was launched. They would most certainly have laughed all the way to the bank if they had.

I really like Profits Theme and also their support which have always been quick to answer my questions but I am dismayed at their attitude of not wanting to release a brand new version of it. I hope they change their mind about this.

After a LOT of research I can't see myself using PT much longer unless they come to their senses and update it ie at least make it responsive, give it a facelift and remove the very few small glitches it has re formatting footer tect etc. Which would not be hard at all.

Personally I am still searching for that elusive all in one solution. Whether OP 2.0 will be it looking forward I still don't know. I might review buying OP 2.0 in a few months after they iron out some more of the bugs. But for now I remain perplexed.
