How to Add a to add Download Link a Wordpress Site?

Hi! I wanted to upload a PDF document to my Wordpress website, how can I do that? And how I can create a specific link for that book, so that when a person visits that link he could instantly start downloading the book (I mean something like mywebsite.com/book-link)?

You could upload your PDF to your FTP account under the upload folder or use the wordpress interface to do so. You'll have then a link for you to be able to propose a download.

Login to your cpanel and upload there, or use your ftp account. If you don`t have either, use a website like mediafire to upload your documents and link from there. use the anchor to point to that url.

You Can Use Following Methods except using your site too:

    1) Using FTP, upload >> Create a Hyperlink on Site, Place it on the relevant DL Page

    2) Use Media Option if its a WP site, it creates a link which can be used on the same basis above.

    3) Use any external third party sites (optional)

    4) If its not free, then use idevspot, e-junkie (search google for sell download material), lots of options available, even free to use...

These are frequent used methods, Hope this suffice

In combination of the above suggestions, I would check out WordPress › Easy Digital Downloads « WordPress Plugins

It's an AMAZING plugin for creating downloadable goods, it has stats, a KILLER host of add-ons, and just a ton of other features as well. It allows you to upload your file through WP as well, if you weren't comfortable with FTP. Hope this helps!

Using cpanel, click on file manager. To to the domain in question. Make a folder in file manager ... call it whatever you want to call it. Click on that folder to open it and then Click upload and find the file on your computer and click upload. It will upload to that folder. Or you can use Filezilla, which is what I use for uploading and downloading.

    Your link will be http://domain_name.com/folder_name/ebookname.pdf

When you are in your WordPress admin panel, go to Media on the navigation. Click Add New. Browse to where your pdf document is and upload. The file will appear in the Media Library list. If you click on the document name (or click edit) you will see the URL of the image file. You can then copy it and add it to the Page or Post where you want the link to be.

You can also upload the image within an actual Page or Post. When visitors click on the link, the pdf will open in the Acrobat. They will then have the option to print or download. Hope this helps.

Depending on the size of your PDF and the amount of traffic to your site, you'll want to consider using Amazon S3.

I uses to sell PDFs off my shared hosting site and when the customers couldn't download the 2.5M file, the support calls increased.

Amazon S3 isn't difficult to setup. Once you create your bucket, you can load a file and then change the permissions so it can be downloaded. It even includes a URL that you can then add to your post.

I am interested in Easy Digital Downloads...I'll have to check it out. For shopping carts that sell digital downloads, I've been very happy with Cart66 and WooCommerce.
