Find the perfect Guru?! Where can I get quality help?

Hey Fellow Warriors,

This is a great community, with tons of people trying to help each other! The only problem I am encountering is information overload! There is so much and so many different ways to get to where you want. I am starting to think that my best chances are to get a mentor to guide instead of wrestling with all this information. I just don't know where to begin... How much is a good price for one? Where is the best place to find one? How do I beware of the phonies?!

Any advice would be perfect

Thanks in advance my fellow warrior,

EL

What has worked for me and a friend of mine in the past is to read through the forum and pay close attention to the marketers who are DOING what you want to do - whether that is creating your own products, affiliate marketing only, search advertising, domain flipping or whatever it is.

Provide some of your own views and add value to the forum as you are reading and surfing.

Now contact the marketers you feel you would "connect" with best, based on their personalities and the content they are sharing here. Although some people may not have specifically set up coaching programs already, they could be interested in working with individuals for a short time.

You're looking for someone to mentor you or are you looking for a coach? I'm asking because they are two very different types of relationships.

There are some Warriors that mentor newbies behind-the-scenes (you rarely hear about them) and most of them go about it by developing a relationship first (sometimes via Skype, sometimes via e-mail, etc.).

I found my first mentor by subscribing to his newsletter (way back in 1999) and then sending him some feedback. Over time we built a relationship whereby I would ask him questions (I asked them one at a time because I valued his time) and he would point me in the right direction. After about a year I joined one of his programs that he promoted and it turned out to be a great move for both of us.

"Best" is relative. I've seen some Warriors "mentor" other Warriors for free or for very affordable rates. I've seen people sell their coaching services ranging from $27 a month to $5,000 per month (and even higher). One former Warrior (well, he doesn't post here anymore but still has an account) sells out his $10,000 coaching classes in just a few hours (he's positioned himself very well and that's why he's able to do this).

There are some really good coaching offers in the WSO forum right now. It boils down to common sense, what you're looking for, doing your research, etc. when choosing either a mentor or a coach.

Some mentors will guide you, give you feedback, but might not actually coach you with the specifics you need. It also depends on what format you looking for. There are monthly membership websites you can join, there's group coaching and then there is one-on-one coaching (which is usually the most expensive because you're usually paying by the hour).

Now having written all that, when people come to me and want someone to look at their existing business or need some objective, business-savvy advice when they are new, I send them to Warrior John Taylor since I don't do any coaching in the MMO niche and I am already mentoring a couple of Warriors.

You could help more than one person by posting publically?

Finding a mentor is never a easy task.

First, you need to find out in which field of Internet Marketing would you like to learn and master since there are many methods of Internet Marketing. You still have to do more reading in the other WF sections to have a better understanding.

My suggestion is reading up on List building, Affiliate marketing and CPA.

Are you seeking a mentor? Gurus just keep cranking out courses without helping most of people. Who wants a breakthrough needs one on one coaching.

Sorry for not specifying guys. What I would need is someone as a coach for affilate marketing. I am in for the long haul. I want to work up a list while making an authority site. There is so much to just doing that, with tweaking things and getting optimal results. Someone to guide me through it and bounce ideas off of!

I am currently being coached by Magic Mike here on the forum. My experience and results have so far been nothing short of spectacular, however I'm sure there are many others as well.

I also see in the WSO section that there is a new, fairly high-priced CPA coaching program from someone who seems to have a good reputation as well...

I would like a Coach and/or mentor to help get me started as well. I have had a few small-small successes in the past.. but the programs close or something else beyond my control.

I have time to invest, and willing to even help out a mentor/coach in their program (grunt work) if need be. I am also interested in perhaps starting/running a Traffic Exchange as that is where most of my knowledge comes from in online marketing.

I do have "offline" marketing experience, but that is dealing with tv/radio mostly.

are you associated with an affiliate program? or are you looking for a program? if you are looking be careful you can spend a lot of money before you realize it. there are some good programs that cost you next to nothing, and they really want to help you make money!

The phrase "you have to kiss a lot of frogs to find a prince" comes to mind...

Not really - the bottom line is you need to ensure you and your prospective coach/mentor connect well and have the same mindset for success.

It's worth paying a few $ up front for a review of your direction and compatibility before diving into a long-term program.
