Whats With All the ad.fly Threads!?!?!?!?

OK seriously.

Ad fly is a spammy url shortening website that hosts adverts and is said to pay users that rout their URL's through them via ugly spammy looking banners ads.

That all it is, thats all there is to it.

Its not a business, its not legit, they have been banned by some of the webs largest platforms and have been marked as SPAM by even more... move along nothing to see here.

Go build a real business.

There seems to be one user bumping up old threads and posting that ad fly is terrible traffic.

Perhaps a WSO launched that included using Adf.ly, or the again perhaps they are on a publicity drive

I noticed the guy bumping those threads too...

Seemed more like he'd just lost a chunk of change on adfly and was
pissed, and wanted the world to know

      Yeah, he lost $50.

      Whoopie-doo...

I test and track a lot of traffic sources. I guarantee you I pissed away much more than his measly $50. LOL

Adf.ly was my number 1 traffic source in 2012!

...for eating up bandwidth and my bank account (lol). $150 invested, 1200 subscribers, 1 verified OTO sale for $17.

Actually, those numbers don't look too bad now that I think of it.

I've had a $120 solo ad generate me 65 subscribers and 0 OTO sales.

Then again, I've had a $20 solo ad generate 60 subscribers and 6 OTO sales.

    How do I know this?

I track the heck out of everything.

Back on topic, Adf.ly isn't ideal but it's so tempting since you just buy and "leads" join your list like crazy.

I dont know whats up with all the adfly threads, but i do know most of them contain some very short sighted arguments regarding adfly.

Just because YOU don't understand how to monetize a particular traffic source doesn't at all mean it is junk traffic. It just means its junk traffic for how most people use it.

On more than a couple occasions, i have made more in a month with adfly traffic than most folks who are keeping the wso board open by buying all the latest greatest secrets.

The traffic is not bad...its just bad for what most people use it for. That leads people to the very short sighted and ignorant conclusion that adfly traffic is the problem...its not.

Yeah it depends how people are using it

Some are using it to generate money

Some are using the advertising platform to try and gain leads. ( this is the area that article was talking about and how it was poor leads )

If it is really junk, it will have gone long ago. I personally do not have good experience with Adfly but I will not say that it is completely junk because I might not be doing something right to monetize from the traffic.

I'm running a $10 test on it today - USA traffic only

I am using clickmeter to track uniques and bots/spiders (love that place)

So far their stats seems a bit out of whack with clickmeters. I say it's them as clickmeter is always bang on

Ad.fly to usa folk 551 views ( But to get those views they would have had to click my clickmeter link which is showing 976 clicks ) with only $2.76 spent so far

I am showing a opt in and so far today only a few optins

I may run another test after using Optimizely and see how 2 different pages perform.
