Tutorial or Software?

I've made a decent amount online and feel like giving back what I can to help some of you IM'ers.

So my question is: Is a tutorial or software more preferable?

From my experience it doesn't seem like most people don't follow through on the tutorials they read.

It depends on what it's going to be about.

    What is most fitting?

I don't see how you could make software about selling on eBay - a tutorial would be the right course of action here.

I feel like they are two completely different things - make whatever you feel most like making.

It's all about internet marketing, mostly social marketing. I was thinking about making some automated software that does what I do on a daily basis to promote my sites.

I think you should go with a tutorial. I have learned a lot from them. It seems like I learn a lot better with tutorials. Show me how to do it and I can teach others.

My vote would be for both, a good tutorial with software. Like a daily step by step, do this, do that, activate software...

My vote is for the software because you'll have to give us some instruction on how to use it and why

    @forganics,

That depends. Normally i would say a tutorial but first I'd like to know, what's your area of expertise?

Social internet marketing mostly but just driving traffic is the goal. We've been able to generate over 400k uniques (1.3M pageviews) to a single site in 24 hrs. A couple thousand visitors/day is typical.

I just want to package up this kind of service so others can start using it since it's a waste not to. There's tens of millions of visitors every day that we aren't even touching on that others might be able to properly monetize.

I will probably release some software to help with promotion and getting visitors to your site and a tutorial to help with monetization of those visitors.

Thanks for all your feedback. Msg me if you want a copy.

BOTH, if you have the time, personally I like tutorials but software is such a time saver

My preference is software as it is much easier to sell since you can clearly demonstrate the solution to a problem. Tutorials are more subjective because you need to limit the amount of material your provide for free and the benefits are based on the reader's interpretation and application.

I recently launched a software solution and I found it converted well when it is targeted to the niche of potential customers. It also helps you stand out in crowded niches where people are selling information products.
