Hello all,

I started developing a few websites at the beginning of the year, just wondering where I should be at in terms of traffic after four months work.

Can anyone share their experience?

It depends on your marketing techniques.
Are you doing enough / effective marketing?

How are you going about getting the traffic? Purely SEO? What have you done?

How many sites do you have? How much work have you put into the sites? Do people want to see what is on your sites?

    Way too many variables.

It also depends on you. How many views do you feel equals success? Some sites will have thousands of views a day - others may have hundreds - some may only have 10s....yet people may still be happy.

I've seen people spend more than a year to get to 500 uniques per day. A lot can depend on your niche as well as your access to methods or resources that can provide you traffic. For example, if you already have a mailing list, or you already have another popular site in the nice, or you have money to spend on advertising, etc.

It depends on a lot of factors, and either we admit or not, among them is the luck too. But if you are a starter in the IM world, you shouldn`t have gone too far, if you did, good for you.

Just read through the answers and I can only imagine the expression on your face - 'well, that didn't really answer my question!" The problem is that there really isn't an answer to your question - and the site you are competing against is the one that was on your URL yesterday.

What I mean is that you are competing against the amount of traffic and sales you got yesterday. Don't worry about anyone else. Instead, focus on what you have achieved and how you can achieve more.

And, while traffic is GREAT - conversions are better

My first site I ever built was an Amazon review site. It was in a moderately competitive niche.

I used Seo as my sole source of traffic and it took me 7 months to rank on page 1 of Google and make my first sale (which was my first ever IM sale).

A lot depends on how competitive your niche is, what kind of traffic you're shooting for and how much work you put into it. It's really difficult to give a definitive answer.

My traffic from Google was about 75-100 unique a day.

Tell us your traffic numbers and we'll tell you whether bad or not.

Anything less than 1,000 visitors per month after the first month is poor. You need to be doing more to get traffic.

I agree, you should be increasing your daily average by about 50% of the previous months daily average.

Nobody is going to be able to give you an accurate number because there are simply too many factors involved that will determine where you SHOULD be in your path to success.

Two people can take the identical actions and still get far different results.

One piece of advice I can give you is this: make it a goal to consistently try to beat your best, rather than comparing your results against anyone else.

If you keep beating your own best stats, you will SKYROCKET your way to progress.

    Much Success,

it can be 0, 100, 200, or even 100000. It all depends upon your efforts and stategies.

It's perfectly possible to make a full time income with much less traffic than 1,000 unique visitors per day.

Success (which is subjective anyway) is a function of traffic, price and conversion rate. It's not all about traffic (which is actually the hardest of the 3 to control).

    Cheers,

Really depends on the work and time you put in, your knowledge, and the techniques that you are employing. You could be anywhere between nowhere, and moderately successful!

There are so many answer we could all give you but it depends on how much effort you are prepared to put in. Depending on the niche you are in, you could buy solos to get started. When you get approximately 500 you could do ad swaps.

If you have set your site up using SEO and have created back links you should be able to get some organic traffic. You have to be the one who puts in the hard work.

    Hi pvijeh,

As someone who is just starting to take action on a serious level. It is hard for me to say how much you should actually expect after four months of work.

I will say this though, after 4 months I would think that at least 200-300 visitors a day to your site should be attainable by then.

This depends on you and what you are doing to drive your traffic.. You always need to track what your doing you can use Analytics or another tool.

You can drive as much or little traffic as you like to your website that it ultimately up to you and if your investing in paid traffic or driving traffic through Free methods...

As everyone said too many variables but typically it will depend on how much marketing you do (a diverse campaign for better results), how many people are interested in your niche, competition and other things.
