Be careful. Maybe someone used your email and personal information to purchase it from amazon.

Or maybe it's some kind of phishing scam?

It is almost certainly a phishing scam, as Claire mentioned.

A good way to check is to hover your cursor over the links, and look at the bottom left of your screen. It will show you where the links actually go. Some of the links maybe genuine, but with a phishing scam the one they want you to click on won't be. You'll see the url has nothing to do with Amazon or Paypal or whatever account they're trying to access

It's good practice where account information is involved to not click on any links in an email. Just visit the site through your browser and then login.

Looks like someone is trying to steal your info. Don't open anything and check with your bank to be sure their is no pending payments or any money gone from you account.

Yeah it looks like some kind of phishing scam, I get lots of those annoying emails!
You can usually tell from looking at the from address.

Did you contact Amazon to find out?

If you point your mouse at one of the links in the email, you should be able to see the link displayed at the bottom left of your screen.

If you can't, right click on one of the links, copy it and paste it into notepad document.

You will almost certainly see that the link doesn't go to Amazon.

To be certain, log-in to your Amazon account and look to see if the claimed purchase has actually been made on your account. It's unlikely, but if it has, contact Amazon.

To quote a famous phrase "If there's doubt there is no doubt..."

Sounds like a phishing scam to me. If you're using Hotmail/Outlook.com then report it to MS and delete the email.

I agree with all the good advice given above.

Just to add a bit more advice, do make sure that you report it to Amazon. Whether someone has used your details or whether it's just a phishing scam and your account hasn't been compromised, Amazon still need to know, at the very least so that they investigate it and hopefully stop the person in question.

There will always be people who attempt phishing but each case that's reported can be helpful. And, of course, if it turns out to be a case of outright fraud and you find that your details have been used, then you absolutely need to inform Amazon ASAP.

I hope you get to the bottom of it and that all turns out okay

Thanks for all valuable information , I checked the link by hover my mouse pointer and it points to some other website , not Amazon. I also checked my Amazon account and there was no transaction. This is definitely a scam mail. Now I am wondering why someone doing it , I think this also required lots of work , research to send these mails? Am I right?

BTW , I am forwarding this mail to Amazon to investigate .

    Thanks again

You may sometimes receive a scam e-mail from someone pretending to be Amazon. This message is called a "phishing" e-mail. Often the e-mail contains links to a website that looks like Amazon.com but isn't controlled by us. We take your security and privacy very seriously.

If you received an e-mail regarding the cancellation of an order you don't recognize, please check Your Orders (http://www.amazon.com/your-orders) in Your Account. If you can't find a matching order, the e-mail you received wasn't from Amazon.com. We recommend that you delete the e-mail. There's no need to report it to us.
