PayPal Account Freezing - Featured on BBC Watchdog

I don't know if this will be available for all to view depending on country, but the most recent BBC Watchdog covered PayPals account freezing problem in the latest episode:

BBC iPlayer - Watchdog: Series 31: Episode 3

Having research further I've also found they were featured on Watchdog back in 2012 toothat covers some others cases:

BBC One - Watchdog Daily, Episode 15, PayPal

Thanks Daniel for that timely warning as I am about to increase activity in sales on my Paypal and eBay accounts very soon. It pays not to put all your eggs in one basket and use other means of payments to you if not trading on eBay.

Just spotted this reference in Paypal that UK sellers may be interested in:-

    UK Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS)

Section 14.2b is amended to clarify that the service offered by the FOS is available only to UK resident Users. The amended Section 14.2b reads as follows:

"UK Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS). For UK resident Users only - the FOS is a free, independent service which might be able to settle a complaint between you and us. You may obtain further information regarding the FOS and contact the FOS at Financial Ombudsman Service"

This is what I hate about PayPal. I am looking to start selling a certain service through my site in the next 2 months which will mean running a lot f money through PayPal every month. The amount of horror stories I have read about them freezing and closing accounts is very worrying.

And what about the other 99.9% of Paypal users who never have any issues whatsoever? Does that also worry you?

The problem is you don't hear about the people who have no issues, you only ever hear from the very very small amount of people who do have issues... and in most cases whether they realize it themselves or not, those issues were caused by something they did or did not do.

Paypal are fine and very reliable if you treat them like a real business.

Had first hand experience of them freezing an account. They held my money for six months and the explanation for it was vague and very wordy. Even when I could get my money out, it was another month before the transfer actually occurred. Have never been back since.
