Offline Marketing for MLM Client

Well, it may matter what the budget is, what the timeline is, what the product is, who the target audience is, what the profit/value is, etc...

Not knowing any of that info. I'd create a couple quick Blogs - one to sell the product and one to sign up down lines. Then market the heck out of them with articles, Squidoo pages, facebook fan page, videos, other "feeder" Blogs, forum posting, and the basics like that.

If the budget allows, a complete social marketing campaign would be in order with Twitter, MySpace, Ning, and so forth.

Again, if you think the budget is there long-term, giving the client a game plan for what you could do in 30 days, 30-90 days, and over 90- days is always a popular thing for business people to see and know there's a plan associated with their business.

Make sure you read a copy of the agreement this person has with their MLM. Many offline MLMs are notoriously strict about not letting you say much of anything online about them. You don't want to accidentally get your client in trouble with their company.

I love the MLM/Network Marketing business model but I just
kinda like what I do better. Just fits me and my personality.

However, I do have some friends that are KILLING it by selling
cheap information products related to their MLM but not breaking
any of the agreements with the actual MLM company.

Then after the person buys they now have that persons name,
email, address, and phone... So they use offline marketing to
follow up and sell the business opportunity.

For example look at some of the postcard marketing ebooks
out there... The owners follow up with their SendOutCards
pitch to get the buyer to join in their downline.

Works very well, they even outsource the calls to a telemarketer
and pay them a commission per recruit they sign up. Then from
their they put the new recruits into a bootcamp style membership
site that gives them all the marketing materials they need to duplicate
his process as well as training videos so they learn how to use
the marketing materials they were given.

It's a pretty slick process and the guy's doing great with it

The product is Xango/mangosteen juice and products. She wants more people in her downline and is looking to me for guidance on how to make it happen.

When I mentioned a blog, she said she wanted to use her standard/default site from the company (yes, I know, it's not unique, it doesn't sell well, it doesn't have all the built-in Wordpress traffic building tools) so that's another hurdle.

Yes, this is a concern.... obviously I don't want her to pay me for anything that won't be profitable for her. And with MLM I've always thought it difficult since you are really selling two things - the products and the business opportunity, which are two very distinct target markets (thanks MarkR for the idea of two different blogs).

I'm actually considering asking what her budget is right off the bat, so I don't spend time putting together a plan that's out of her league. Thoughts?

Just found out my client signed up for a video to discuss the "Cosmetic Conspiracy" and gather leads at the end. I could definitely send traffic here for her.... I personally don't like videos much but this one seems better than others I've seen but it's a little long (17+ minutes).

Have you found that videos work well for lead generation?

I have some MLM experience online. PM me info on the product. If I have experience I will send you my landing pages etc.

I think that whatever you create, you need to make sure that it is something that her downline will be able to do too. If you are creating a unique system, that means that the person you are working with should ethically suggest to her downline that they do the same thing with you.

Otherwise they will be like every other attraction marketing internet guru, getting money for their funded proposal, but never getting people to the other side of the table where they create one themselves.

What you ask seems simple but it isn't. You can help her to make money, but if it doesn't create success for her people it isn't real honest ethical MLM training.

Well - you do want to know if your client who is doing MLM because
she sees it as a real business and has capital - or if your client is
in MLM because she is really hurting for money.

Believe me, people have no idea what another person's labor or
expertise is worth in a lot of cases. She may have highly unrealistic
expectations. While I wouldn't push her into a "how much you got
to spend?" conversation you do need to, for example, pin her
down on how many leads a month she needs, and find out
how much she's been spending per lead up til now.

That's a start.

Both my mother and my sister are involved with MLM and the company Vemma. My sister makes about $2000 a month doing it. She does work very hard at it. Two years now. She also has invested several thousand to start. I hope I gave some helpful insight.
