Hi,

Is there any advantage of hosting a blog on Blogger with a custom domain instead of using my own hosting?

Does the content get indexed faster?

Will there be more traffic do to the fact that the blog is hosted on Blogger?

Thank you.

Hi, i don't think so. Hosting has nothing to do with search engines. Search engines love to see your domain name. ( how relevant it is with the keyword etc)

    Thanks

    Yes - several advantages.

It looks far better and more professional.

If you own the domain-name, if/when Blogger ever deletes the blog (as they so often can, even when you can't understand what - if anything - you've done wrong), at least you'll be in the control of the domain and can replace your site somewhere else. You'll also keep the benefit of any backlinks you might acquire, that way, if not using a Blogspot url.

However, using your own domain with a Blogger blog, unfortunately, doesn't decrease the chances of getting it deleted.

    No.

    No.

If it's anything more than just a "hobby blog", it's unnecessarily risky to host it at Blogger (whether using your own domain-name or a Blogspot subdomain). The reality is that there are only really four (partly overlapping) groups of people (in "internet marketing") who use Blogger ...

    (i) People who are unaware of the unnecessary risks

(ii) People who imagine that those risks are all problems that happen "only to other people" and that they'll be ok "if they stick to the terms of service" (this is, of course, nonsense but a lot of people believe it )

(iii) People who don't know that you can have your own reliably self-hosted WordPress blogs without even paying anyone a penny for the blog, the theme or the hosting

(iv) Very few people who still imagine that "they must rank well because Google owns Blogger" (seriously, there are still a few people who believe that - it's also nonsense).
