and sometimes even when I work with an old-timer, their first question
to me is often... "What do I do first?"
I usually tell them to decide WHO they are going to serve... i.e.,
choose a niche. Then I tell them to immediately start building a list,
focused around solving one of the biggest problems that people in
that niche have... provided solving that problem is profitable.
That falls back on the need to find people who:
1) Want what you have
2) Can afford what you have
3) Are willing to pay for what you have
However, when I REALLY think about what the newbie should focus on
first, I think that perhaps it should be copywriting... learning to
use words to influence the behaviour of others by helping them to
realize that what you want them to do is what they really want to
I'm not saying that they should focus on becoming copywriters so
much as really digging into why we behave the way that we do. I think
that will make so many other things fall in place so much easier!
What would YOU tell a newbie to focus on first?
