Hi guys,

Have questions would like to check with you expert out there.
Is there any different between do-follow and no-follow websites if my intention is to get anchor text [target keyword] backlinks from them?

1. Does no-follow blogs count as backlinks for us if we leave comment to them with a Anchor text on there? [Using the name] however, it's the page rank that google won't pass it to us.

Am i correct to say that?

2. Also from what i understand, only Google bots count into do-follow websites while other search engines like yahoo, msn doesn't count on them. They will count them as backlinks regardless do-follow and no-follow website.

3. Even those no-follow website, as long as we leave a link on them. It's will count as backlinks.

Would appreciate anyone can confirm with me, whether what i understand is correct? Thanks!

I can answer only your second question as of now.

Yes, only Google looks at the follow tag. Yahoo and MSN don't consider it.

Someone please correct me if I am wrong. Im still getting my head around SEO.

Google is the only search engine to officially support nofollow. In theory you will get no link love (ranking benefit) from it. However, if your page has not yet been indexed you will almost certainly get a spider visit once Google has indexed the page you dropped the link on. It makes no difference if you use anchor text or not. Unless the blog does autoparsing you need to make sure you use http:// in your url.

There are still good reasons to post to nofollow blogs.
    1) Like I said above, it can cause Google to spider you.

    2) If the blog's comments are scraped and republished you may get link love from the republishing site (YouTube being a great example).

    3) The blog may have plugins that republish your name and or post on other pages of the blog that do not use nofollow tags.

    4) If the blog is active and your post in relevant you will likely get click throughs from people reading your comment.

    Hi guys,

    Thanks for your fast respond!

Ok, from what i read. [Let's assume that i am looking at spiders that claw into my website and rank high, we don't mention about readers who will click on my posts / comment for do and no follow websites]

Am i correct to say - No-Follow is good to get your website indexed faster? But they will have no effect ranking your site at all.
Which mean even if they count as backlink, They will count as 'zero' anchor text backlink from the no-follow blog?

Example : 10 No-follow blog = Indexed fast, but count as '0' for your anchor text for ranking purpose

10 Do-follow blog = Indexed fast and count as '10' backlinks for your anchor text for ranking purpose.

Am i right to say that?

      Guys,

after re-read it again. Think this best sum up everything [which also end my questions]
hotlinkz - thanks for the article. Finally understand how no-follow and do-follow works. Million thanks!

'In conclusion, the commenter was correct about links to pages from Wikipedia some search engines, specifically Google, but Yahoo and Ask.com both not only follow No Follow, but also make those sites available to their algorithm. Therefore, even links with the No Follow attribute do have value; especially in the counting, but not always authoritative measurement, of backlinks.'

No or do follows, their backlinks are counted. only backlink with do-follow have higher ranking power compare to no-follow. Which make no different if i am leaving a no-follow site that have pr4 against a do-follow site that have pr0 or pr1.
