Yet Another Membership Site Question!

Hello Fellow Warriors!

I have been browsing the boards here and intently reading the various threads on the concept of software / systems for membership sites. Great stuff! But I seem to have a slight twist or "nuance" to the main concept ... and maybe you guys can help.

My concept:

* Drip fed content membership site MONTHLY
* PROBABLY will be a fixed term membership of 12 months
* Content will include deliverable PDF files
* Content will ALSO include video training (streaming OR download zip file)
* Integration with Clickbank / Paypal
* Would LIKE system to email members when their new content is available.
* Of course Aweber integration would be nice
* Of course as much automated membership management would be great
* Of course content protection is nice too

From all of the discussions I hear folks using:

* Wordpress & Wpwishlist ....
* Jimmy Brown's "Membernaire formula" (email only) ...
* Fixed site with Amember / Memberfire / etc ...

MY QUESTION:

What suggestions to you guys have for this type of site ... namely about the serving / delivering / streaming(?) of VIDEO training as part of the membership.

I have seen sites where every month you get an email saying "HEY, your new stuff is ready" and when you log into the member area, you see the OLD content AND the currently "new" content ...

The point being, I want to be sure that my members not only get access to the information EASILY ... and I mean E-A-S-I-L-Y ... AND get messages from "me" to remind them about their new content being ready every 30 days or so ...

Anyone have some input on methods to do this OTHER than the "big systems" that cost THOUSANDS to do

    Bob,

    Given your dynamics I would use Amember + standard web pages.

    You would create 12 pages. One for each month of the FTM.

    The current month would link to all previous months.

    The preload your autoresponder with the "alerts." If someone drops and still gets the messages, no big deal since they would have been cut off from Amember access.

    Sounds like the video training isn't even done yet.
    Why not just give the video training away for free? Nice & simple. It's a supplement.
    Or package it up & put it on DVD. Don't make things so difficult.
    Let the customer decide if it's good or not the first time around. Then once your product is profitable, upgrade your systems, operations & processes.

    Hi Bob,

    I currently use a combination of JVManager 2 Fantasos, Aweber and Contepass to handle all that you descibe above.

    The JVManager 2 part can be skipped and use Contepass with the content drip plugin which can work on a 12 or 24 month pre-loaded content system.

    The reason I do use the JVM-2 system is for the integrated management of the membership run by Contepass for monthly payments, if you are looking at a fixed one time price then you would just stick a Paypal button or Clickbank button on the Contepass page and the system (along with Aweber) would give them a registration code for the fixed term.

    As far as updating the members go - use the Contepass built in Bulletins which can be linked easily to an RSS feed - but if you have the content pre-loaded there is no real need to inform the customers as it will be available on the monthly anniversary of their subscription.

    Protected download links are also built in.

    I see no reason why WP & Wishlist could do that. Wishlist has sequential delivery & e-mail broadcasts, and can integrate with autoresponders. And WP is great for streaming embedded video.

      You can quite easily tie in the drip fed content (based on length of membership or specific date) into your AR system to fire out mails when new content is added - That gives you the option to just set the whole system and let it run itself over the entire fixed term.

        (1) To "NMH" ... thanks for that thread. Again, a LOT of GREAT feedback and "food for thought"!

        (2) To "TemplarJustice" (ps love your screen name ) - actually I have 6 months of video training already done and it HAS been sold via CD using a great drop ship delivery system that starts with a K But we wanted to speed things up with an ONLINE delivery system for speed and "impulse" buy. BUT ... I LOVE the disk continuity programs BIG TIME! AND you can charge more money but there is more work LOL!

        (3) To "SimonHodgkinson". Long time to see guy. I'm an old customer of yours of other stuff (smile). I have never seen your membership site product before ... is it new or have I just been not noticing it for a while!

        Again to EVERYONE ... thanks for the input! To get things running, I'm actually toying between the "Jimmy Brown" autoresponder model AND the basic Amember fixed site system.

        I am a member of a blog based membership site but it is a bit "ghetto" in it's membership management ... and based on my market segment / niche ... MANY of these people are kind of NOT technically savvy. I'm concerned that it may be "too much" for this particular niche to have to remember to log into a blog and FIND the content (BUT I will say "JonB" your story about your membership site is TOTALLY inspirational ... and I MAY go your route with WP and the WP plugins for my more "advanced" members site!)

        This particular group of customers need to be kind of "led on a path" on what to do. They need messages that say ... GO HERE ... DO THIS ... NOW THAT ... that is why the EMAIL reminders are important so I can EXPLICITLY say GET YOUR MATERIAL NOW AND HERE IS HOW. Again, the reason I'm offering video training is it appeals well to this market niche.

        ANYWAY ... I just wanted to throw my two cents in to the discussion and all comments and thoughts are SINCRELY APPRECIATED ... keep em comin' ... I'm assembling my thoughts!

    If you are going to be providing video look for something that can offer some level of protection for your video files. For example, Simple Member Pro will allow you to link to your swf files (for online viewing of the video) using a redirection system that masks the true location of the video and only allows the video to play if the member is actually logged into the members area. This will stop people from sharing your page urls and video urls and giving others free access.

    I'm not sure how many other options there are for protected videos, but I do know not every solution has a way to protect them. If you want to protect your content then make sure that the solution you choose can protect videos as well as individual pages.
