    That's a great list Bloggerd!

Free traffic sources are great and all but you should also explore some of the paid sources as well. You'll never get traffic faster and more consistent that with paid sources and that can help you test the profitability of your site/product very quickly.

It's the nature of a forum. It's a conversation, not a database. New people come and go. Technologies come and go. The answer that was good a few months ago maybe outdated now...etc...

You might want to take note that it is not exactly free because you will be investing your time in it. Most of the free traffic generation method will take some time before you will be able see consistent stream of traffic coming to your website.

As you do this business longer, you might want to look into paid traffic methods because you will be able to quickly test whether your website is working well to convert prospects to customers.

Most important, it is crucial to just keep taking massive action as that is the way to getting real results

I'm with wfjason on this: there is no such a thing as free traffic. There are always exceptions, but in the end you either pay for traffic or you spend a lot of time and hard work to get it.

My advice: if you can, go for paid traffic. Hard work don't always guarantee traffic and when it does it can be only temporarily, while paid traffic is, usually, well targeted, steady and reliable. Oh, and it can be a good indication of your progress, in the sense that if you invest $25 in traffic and you can't make at least $30 from that investment, then you know your are doing something wrong.

BTW, you can always mix both methods, like making some SEO for your page to rank higher and then buying some traffic or paying for promotion (blog posts, Facebook likes, tweets, stumbles...) and the latter will provably benefit the former.

  • As your business is new, you can try all those above mentioned traffic methods to get traffic. Also, you can use some paid traffic options like solo ads, PPC etc. They are also effective to bring targeted traffic.

    Hi,

To keep things simple and so you don't get INFORMATION OVERLOAD!...

...You can start by posting simple but to the point YouTube videos that are
anywhere from 1-5 minutes long that help others by giving them FREE but
    powerful tips.

    Then...

...Leave a strong call to action (about 20-30 seconds long) that points
back to a page of your choice.

Do this consistently until you see the results you desire.

Don't just give up after a couple of videos.

You'll need screen capture software for this so you can use both
FREE and paid options it's up to you which ones you use.

Tell your visitors EXACTLY what they need to do next in order to
    get more information from you.

Make sure they know to click your link below the video etc etc.

Hope this helps and don't get caught up with all the other keep you busy
    and broke stuff.

    All the best
    Gavin

Blog commenting in your niche is great for traffic. Not spamming but real, thoughtful comments that reference the original post and contribute to the conversation.

This builds your rep in your niche with other blog owners, it makes people on other sites curious about you too.

The best sites to do this on are ones that have CommentLuv on them. A lot of the CL community also believes in the DoFollow movement- and have at least one DoFollow link opportunity in their comment system. Between the chance to have a keyword name link, twitter link, and a link back to the post or page of your choice (that may or may not be dofollow) you are killing two birds with one stone. Organic traffic via click-throughs from the blog you are commenting on, and SEO effects from the links CommentLuv commenting gives you.

EDIT - If you have CommentLuv premium on your own website, you have the ability to build an info box about yourself and your website, as well as pick favorite pages and posts that are always an option for you when commenting on other CL blogs. This is a FANTASTIC tool for rep building and yes, leads to more traffic.

It depends on what niche you're in. There are a lot of sources of free traffic, but not all will work as well for different types of website. For example, while Twitter traffic is good for community and social based sites, it typically isn't very useful for Amazon niche sites. Let me (roughly) know what type of site you're working on, and I can make a good suggestion based on that.

There are several methods you can use when promoting your site. Some are...

    - Forums
    - Blog commenting
    - Guest posting
    - Writing articles
    - SEO
    - Creating newsletters
    - Social Bookmarking
    - Blogging
    - Social Media (Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest)

The trick is to pick 2 methods you believe you would enjoy doing then stick to only those methods. Once you see results move to to 2 new methods.

After you have tried every method discard the ones that are not producing results - and focus on the ones that are.

The best sources of free traffic (incidentally there's no such thing as 'free' not really, not if you place a value on your time) are those that are targeted and convert. To ascertain what those are for your offer, you need to test.

    YouTube and Facebook.

If you can create videos, and have keywords that are long tail, you should get targeted traffic. But sometimes it takes a few days, or weeks, to see it come in. Depends on the niche and keywords that you use.

Facebook is easier if you target something viral. People will like, share, and repost your information which can bring in quite a bit of traffic, and it can come very quickly once the Facebook page is set up.
