NEW TO MARKETING ? Click Here To Save Thousands Of Man Hours (mostly ours)

NEWCOMERS TO MARKETING - I say this with love because, even though when I started I did come in here and ask my newbie questions! I spent a little bit of time poking around and reading first. I found something and started building and trying before coming and asking my newb questions.

You should be adventurous and bold - dig around. Hell, if you think you can withstand the urge to buy- go look in the Warrior Special Offer forum and look for a method being taught that appeals to you - THEN do a search up top there and find threads with people talking about that - Then start DOING- and start asking once you are underway.

Don't buy the special offer yet though

Oh and here's my "ProTip" - no matter WHAT you do to earn money online, you are going to have to learn how to get traffic. Heck, maybe every newbie should be told to start studying there because without that, all their efforts will be for nothing anyway.

I totally agree. If one were to do nothing but traffic, and conversions they will do quite well. Don't even need a website to be successful.

It just occurred to me that, on the traffic note - do not put all your eggs in one traffic basket. For instance - SEO is valid and wonderful - but not stable. Google's shown that again and again over the last couple of years.

So once you have one traffic method down- learn another. then another. then another. In fact, never think you know all there is to know about traffic because chances are, there's something you haven't tried or there's something new around the corner.

  • Great advice Jenny! Getting traffic is always going to be the key to any im endeavor. So the sooner that is mastered, the better. But I think having a mentor or some structured guidance is helpful to a newbie. Otherwise it's easy to get lost in the threads and become overwhelmed. That's why college and any other education is structured so you have a linear path to follow and build from basics.

I think IM needs to be that way for most newbies, then you're better equipped at filtering through all the great threads here on WF.

Apologies for going against the grain here, but I've come to realise that traffic is the least of our worries.

If you have got a fantastic product and high converting sales material you can afford to pay the traffic problem away.

If you haven't, then what's the point of getting traffic?

Or is this a little naive?

It's not that simple. Starting an online business (let's ignore the silly money-makers for now) is composed of a bunch of moving parts. It's not just about one or two things.

Traffic is extremely important because without it you'll have no business. Now where you send that traffic is just as important. Copy writing is also majorly important if you're creating your own offers. Testing and tracking your offers and ad campaigns are also important. Networking and setting up strategic partnerships is also important for most business models.

In order to get "high converting sales material" either someone has to give it to you or you have to test it yourself with traffic.

So getting traffic is paramount, but it's not the only piece of the puzzle.

Yes - I agree that unless you've got money to burn then there is a bit of a chicken vs egg scenario with testing your offers.

You could have the best content and website in the world but without traffic, it's worthless. I made the mistake of making a website and assuming traffic would flow in without my intervention when I started out. Needless to say I failed.
