Does anyone know how to setup a 301 redirect on Expression Engine?

I don't have htaccess so I can't do it there.

Your help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

As far as I know, htaccess is the closest possibility to you. Any other possibility would mean it would go further down to server access needs etc.

Just ask your Webadmin about a htaccess configuration or just ask them to add a redirect for you.

Also, as far as I know, it is possible to set redirects with setups like CPanel, but I dont really knokw "Expression Engine", so I cant tell you if its possible there.

But I assume that if its not possible with the interface, you wont get there like you want.

PS: Every normal hoster should let you change your htaccess. If its not changeable just change the hoster. Honestly. You will only get problems in the future.

Anyhow, good luck - hope I could help you a bit

By Expression Engine, maybe you mean Expression Web? If so that should do it, but I would personally use notepad for a .htaccess file. EW will add line breaks which might mess it up.

By 'don't have htaccess' maybe you mean that there is no .htaccess sheet in your account? If so, you might have to set your control panel to 'display hidden files and folders.' If it still doesn't show in your public folder, you just don't have an htaccess sheet yet, and you can create one.

The specific text you need to do it is available online and you only need to substitute your file names and path.

I'm actually talking about Expression Engine by Ellislab.

Sorry I didn't make myself clear. I don't have FTP access, and thus don't have access to the htaccess file, otherwise I'd just setup the redirects that way.

I just found this redirection plugin for Expression Engine that I think I'm going to purchase so that I can optimize URL slugs and setup the necessary redirects.

Thanks for the timely response and feedback!
